Hi

Have not stayed up with the latest on this. If the board can help me I'd really appreciate it.

I bought resale:
100pt xxxxxx (Blue Card)

then resale
150 xxxxx(post blue card)

then resale
220 xxxxx (post blue card)

So, if I want to sell xxxx and Xxxxx what happens to my blue card status? Furthermore, at this point was does blue card status get you? My plan is to sell those 2 and come back in a few years and buy some Pother points.

Thank you in advance!!

Mod removed resort names.

I removed the resort names so not to be seen as a for sale.

To answer your question, in order to retain you current eligibility for membership extras, you have to keep the contract that was bought prior to April 2016 that makes you eligible.

If you sell that you lose membership extras status. To get it back you will need to buy at least 150 direct points…or more if that threshold is raised by the time you purpose.

What does the blue card get you? For us, to be honest, it's mostly the option to buy the Sorcerer AP, which saves us hundreds each year. We'll also save money on meals and merchandise, no doubt - but I don't know that I'd buy direct just for that. If you don't need DVC-Y access to the AP, it might not be a life-changing perk for you at this time.

But that's only if you go more than like 10 days right? (or maybe two 4-day trips?)

And your visit doesn’t include any block out days.
Also blue card gives you access to DVC lounges + merch/dinning discounts (although my visa covers a lot of those as well.)
But, it’d take a lot of visits for a lot of non blocked days to make up for the much steeper direct price.
More meaningful in my mind are the resale restrictions & loss of the ability to book new resorts.

We like to at least try out restricted properties. We have stayed at Riviera and would stay again... Have ft wilderness cabins for a few nights this fall... Want to try DLT...

I guess you could always rent points or stay cash on those, but we consider that a savings.

Plus you don't have to be worried about getting called 'white card scum' when you are denied lounge access at Epcot :p

Good luck!

Can someone elaborate on this...

Blue card (direct and older resale) has access to the DVC lounges at Imagination in Epcot, Innovations building at DL, and soon to be the Frontierland shooting gallery at WDW.
If you bought resale after January 2019, you can only book the original resorts if that's what you own, or ONLY Riviera, DLH or the Cabins if that's what you own.
FWIW, we rushed to beat the restrictions when we bought out BLT contract in 1/19, but have since only booked the original resorts anyway. YMMV

Of all the restrictions, and certainly Disney can do what they want, the denied access to member lounges seems to be the most petty and spiteful.

The sign says for DVC Members, but it doesn't say "excluding those that didn't buy their membership directly from us."

Yes, that's accurate. I was pointing out the biggest perk we feel we get with blue card access. If you don't need or want an AP, it's mostly the discounts on some meals and merchandise. Someone mentioned the lounges, too - not something we do, but many will use. We love the Sorcerer pass for how we visit - we avoid the busiest times so we never have block out issues.

okay - but if we buy lets say Saratoga resale in 2 years - we'll be able to use those points at any other resort after the 7 months window?

I'm hoping to work up to be able to go once in the fall & again in the winter, to make great use of a pass every other year. :)

Any except the restricted... Riviera, CFW & VDH (DisneyIand)

I'm gonna say the private parties open to direct only at TOTW takes this "prize". That's a pretty sleezy way to restrict access to direct only IMHO. Resale had access to TOTW, but not the direct only parties - so now they only have it open during the parties. There is no scale available that can measure how little my dues went down in exchange.

I just quoted a 3 day park hopper for friends and it was $466. So, two shorter trips with a year is break even…add a few more and it’s a good savings.

My sons 7 day hopper for August was $680. So again, two trips in a year and you are saving.

Assuming you don’t go thanksgiving for Xmas.

You’ll be able to use those resale points for 7 month bookings at the legacy resorts - OKW, BWV, BC, VB, HHI, SSR, AKV, BLT, VGC, VGF, Poly 1(& maybe the tower,) BRV, CCV, & Aulani.
You will not be able to use those resale points for 7 month bookings at the restricted resorts - Riv, DHV, the cabins at FW, + likely any future new builds.

You can use them for the original resorts but RIV, VDH, CFW and most likely all future new resorts, those points will not be valid.

Even if you keep the contract that allows you membership extras, points bought resale since 2019 are restricted.

That has nothing to do with membership extras.

Or RRR (Resale Riff Raff) 😂

Keep the contract that gives you the blue card and sell the other two if you want to sell two of them. Blue card gives you the annual pass discount and access to dvc lounge and member events. The only way to get blue card privleges if you sell that one is to purchase 150 points direct.

Not exactly, we purchase AP's every other year and get two trips in on a AP. We purchased an AP for a trip that started June 18, 2023 for 6 days then went this year for 6 days for a trip that started June 11, 2024. We do not "renew" the passes we purchase "new" ones and just do the second trip a week earlier than the first one.
