I have a huge 55 gallon rubbermaid tub full of baby clothes I want to sell - I was thinking craigslist perhaps? Although I haven't had much luck on their lately... :P

All the clothes are infant up to 12 months, I just washed them all and went through them, and many still had the tags on. Our last girl was born 4 years after our second, so she got everything new - and mostly brand names, like
children's place
old navy
gap
calvin klein
carters
etc. and most of it is super cute and girly.

There's at least 4 or 5 laundry baskets full of clothing, and its in season right now. What would be the best way to market this and how much should I be asking for it? I'm trying to sell things to go towards paying off our trip, and I think the shipping on ebay would be way too much. I would like it to be gone all together. LOL For those of you that sell clothing, any tips I should know?
Thanks so much!

Clothing doesn't sell well in my area on CL. I would have a yard sale or take them to a consignment shop or a place like Once Upon a Child.

Yard sale season is coming or you could take them to a consignment shop, which would probably just offer you a price for the entire lot. Sell them for $1 or 2 per outfit. You may also want to take them out of the tubs and put them on a table for people to see. Most people don't have the patience to pore through piles of clothing.

You could also look around for a children's consignment sale. These are usually put on by churches or community groups. You have to label and price everything but you don't have to hang around all day and sell them, that get done for you as part of the fee you pay to be in the sale.

See, that's my problem. There aren't any local consignment shops here, and in our house area, we aren't allowed to have yard sales. (crazy, I know)

We do have a bookoo locally, craigslist, and now there's ebay classifieds, so I'm not sure what to do.:rotfl:

Thanks for the info on pricing. I did take them out of the bin, washed them all, and will be taking pictures of them just in case I end up selling them online.

I got really emotional going through them all, since this is our last and we're having a boy. :sad1:

Join www.diaperswappers.com and post them in the for sale or trade section (FSOT). I'd group them by style/size and sell them in lots. You'll need to know shipping costs first. Sometimes it is easier to group them so they fit into one of those $8 all you can cram in boxes.

I had a boat load of clothes to get rid of. Instead of a yard sale, we put on craigslist that everything was set up in our garage. DH actually put up a clothes rack and we had everything sorted by size and had a few people show up, all bought. Now I have a woman that is a regular and I just put everything in the dining room and let her shop!

For other things that are not name brand like pj's, onesies, t-shirts I would put them in a kitchen trash bag by size. I put on Craigslist "bag 60 pieces 2T girls clothes for $30" and it sold!

In my area, several churches will soon be doing flea markets where you can rent a table. Great way to have a yard sale if you live in a neighborhood where they are not allowed.
