We have a 7 night stay at Poly coming up in a few weeks and now DH may not be able to go. Points were borrowed so I'd rather not have them go into holding. Any advice for selling the reservation through David's or any other company??? Any idea how much per point is usually paid? I booked Southwest on points so luckily won't loose out there. So disappointed. Not sure if I should just go alone but a weeks stay at the Poly seems so extravagant for just myself! My UY is Dec so if I can't sell I have until Dec 1st to rebook right? Ugh, a little stressed trying to figure this out after a crazy Christmas week.

Could you take a friend with you? That's what I would do!
I don't know anyone that could take a weeks vacation and afford the flight cost this close. I did contact a company and at least have some basic info. though.

If your arrival date is more than 30 days away, my advice is to cancel the reservation and either reschedule the vacation or offer the points for rent.

You can lit it in the Rent forum here. Depending on your posting history, you might have to pay for the privilege.

I'd still go - maybe a friend or your husband can come down for part of the week. I think it would be rather fun doing WDW alone - no one to worry about just completely on your own terms. Isn't it too late to cancel where the points would go into holding? I think the rental board is an option, but once you are this close it will be hard to rent with someone needing to purchase a flight. If I were you i would go and if you have park tickets you can either use them or save them for another trip. Make it a relaxing trip, take some me time - go to the spa, read, pool, sleep in. I'd be all over an alone trip.

Some of the rental brokers rent confirmed reservations like you have. I think they usually pay the normal rates assuming they have someone looking to get that specific reservation at the last minute. If you go that route (or listing it on your own) I’d do it ASAP. 7 days is long last minute trip for someone to book.

I rented out a confirmed reservation thru one of the agencies. It went smoothly and I'd do it again if I had to. My resevation was more than 30 days away but it was made using banked points that would expire before I could use them if I canceld (it was a newly purchased resale contract).

I was a little uncomfortable about giving the agency direct access to my DVC account (username and password). They took care of making all of the name changes on the reservation when a renter was found. Obviously, this takes a great deal of trust and I don't recommended it for everyone. I changed my password immediately after the reservation was rented.

You will also have to accept that you are not going to get the going rate for other rentals. You will have to take less in order to attract last minute bargain hunters. If you list it on your own on the Rent/Trade board, you can expect to field a lot of lowball offers.

In all honesty, if you believe that you could make a trip later in 2018, you may be better off cancelling and letting the points go into holding. You will have almost an entire year to make use of the points before they expire and if you eventually decide that you can't travel in 2018, you can list your points with an agency at that time.

Holy moly. I’d never ever give out my username and password to someone I didn’t know. Even if I knew them it would take a great deal of trust before doing so. I hope not that it’s the normal SOP because then I’m never gonna use a rental agency.

I would consider allowing them to go into holding. You have 11 months to book a reservation and use it or sell it. Of course, you won’t get the Poly in 60 days but you’ll be able to use them for something. The going rate is now at least $14. Don’t let someone low ball you.

I'd go. I have been known to reserve a large, comfy, OKW one bedroom unit just for me! ANd if you do go solo, try to book something for yourself that you normally wouldn't do, but want to do...like a special dinner or a fireworks dessert party. I did the River of Light dining pkg at Tiffin's. It was awesome.
