First, we're only interested in the listed resorts where we've never stayed.
Will book a 1 bedroom for 2 adults, 1 weekend night, May 2023. Points not a concern.
Not going to a park, though possibly Disney Springs.
We're foodies. Good eats are essential.
Will drive to WDW and use valet parking where available
Peaceful beats hectic and noisy. We'll be coming in from 2 days driving.

Moving to VGF1 the next morning. A contrast might be fun.

Where do you suggest we stay for a relaxing 1-nighter with a hint of adventure?

I voted BC just because I love it - small and lots of nooks a bd crannies to relax at

Tell me where are good places to wait in case our room isn't ready. We often arrive around noon to 1:00 so would need a good "chill spot."

We're fairly familiar with BCI/YC but not BCV.

Is the BCV atmosphere less wild-n-crazy than I find BCI's?

I voted RIV due to onsite food options, not to mention being a Skyliner ride away from all the Epcot Resort Area restaurants. However, a BW view at BWV comes in a close second - contemplating spending time on the balcony, people watching.

I chose Riviera due to the atmosphere (calming to me) and its skyliner access. Also, good food options.

Some great ideas, guys. Keep 'em coming.

We'll eventually have 11 month booking for BWV, just closed on 50 pts. but will be booking anywhere else listed at 7 mos.

Thanks much, TCRAIG, for the BCV info. Haven't ever been in there, but as much as we like Yachtsman, BCV might be an appealing 1-nighter.

SSR is very peaceful and has beautiful garden grounds for walking, also a short walk or boat trip over to DS for all the restaurants

I voted OKW. I enjoy OKW for the peaceful feel and palm trees, along with low points. You can park right outside your door. There´s a relaxing boat ride to a large selection of restaurants at Disney Springs. The living room is very large and accommodating for 4 adults. OKW is quite different than VGF whereas RIV could be considered the closest to VGF.

Hmmmm, an interesting and valid point, I think.

We ate dinner at Topolino's last trip and then wandered a bit, gauging the appeal of a RIV stay. I agree with you, Donna M, that it may be a little too similar in ambiance to VGF.

For that adventure I mentioned, OKW would be quite different. And, we really enjoy Olivia's.

SSR sounds more appealing, too, than I'd thought it.

I knew DISers would give us lots of terrific info and different perspectives. Just what we need! Thanks, all, so far.

I went with OKW for the laid back vibe and ambiance. Chill at the pool have a drink at Gurgling Suitcase (an appropriate name ). Take a boat to DS for dinner and just walk around the resort afterwards.

I love BC but if you are foodies and not going into the park you are probably going to be disappointed, unless you’re happy hanging out at Stormong Bay. Even then, you may not get into your room early enough to clean up for dinner (Flying Fish would probably be your best “local” bet, though Yachtsman is good too.

If it were me I would vote for Copper Creek but based on your list Saratoga seems like a good option given proximity to Disney Springs.

If your focuses are: access to a wide variety of quality food options, a peaceful and relaxing environment, and no plans to visit a park, then I don't see how you can go wrong with SSR. Just the proximity (walking distance) to all of the options at DS alone should put SSR at the top of the list. Newly refurb'd rooms doesn't hurt either.

I would say BWV/BCV...mostly due to your "foodie" requirement. We were there last month for GotG preview and snagged a Flying Fish ressie. It was as good as we remembered it.

We also own a 50pt BWV contract and if you are okay in studios there, I think you'll be amazed how far those points go relative to other resorts.

Both are up there in the ranks, BWV because of the 11-mo. placeholder advantage. BCV because DH has often said he'd like to stay there.

Studios have descended to an "if we gotta" pretty much. We bought 200 points recently, 150 VGF and 50 BWV, primarily to upgrade to 1brs. Those spoil ya for anything less!

Additionally, DH uses a powerchair, so the spaciousness of a 1br is much more comfy as cramped as some accessible studios are. All the space an accessible bathroom requires renders the living space rather snug in some resorts.

I voted SSR.
Since you're driving, you can park near your place and move in and out is very easy for 1 night. You have easy access to DS which has the best food options IMO.
This is what I would do in this situation since we almost always go to DS on our first night. On our first night after dinner, we just want to stroll around leisurely and enjoy the evening. You can do some shopping, have a drink, and if you want peace and quiet you can walk back to your place. SSR is lovely and chill at night.

Because of the powerchair, SSR might be a better option. All of SSR has elevators whereas OKW availability could be limited since you would need a first floor or one of the few buildings with elevatior.
