I currently have ressies for 3 nights at HRH for $233/night. The RPR is ony $183/night. Sell me on the RPR!

Two things that are in the RPR favor for me are the fact that we can still pool hop to HRH and the quieter, more relaxed feel of RPR. I've read other reports that say there is constant loud music at the HRH everywhere which might not be so relaxing after long summer days at the parks.

Just a note. I just got a rate of 159. per night with AAA for RPR. This is less then the annual pass holder rate.
I've never been there before either so can't help you with the other.

edited to ad - i'm going in the end of Aug.

Can't help on the rate info, but wanted to offer some feedback on the loud music.

HRH does have music playing in most areas, but I found it very subtle. I also think it changes during the day. In the mornings, it's softer rock (Elton John, Beach Boys), then it progressively gets a little harder throughout the day...never "heavy metal" tho.

They don't have it playing in the room hallways, either, to your rooms. It's only outdoors and in the common areas of the hotel.

I usually can't even hear it by the pool unless I stick my head under the water. We opt for the jacuzzi, which is loud itself and drowns out the music. If we go over to the big pool, I generally only hear kids, adults talking, splashing, etc...pool sounds, you know?

Anyway, if you like rock n' roll at all, this resort is heaven! I've never found the music "intrusive" at all.

We stayed at RPR a year ago and loved it.

I thought that I'd rather stay at the HRH seeing that my kids are 10, 12 and 17 and they'd love the music. But to save money, we stayed at RPR.

Well, we pool hopped to HRH and weren't too impressed with the pool. It wasn't very deep, but it did have a cool twisting slide. The music was neat too. I guess we like "swimming" and not "wading".

The locker rooms were really cool. They had shampoo, conditioners, combs, brushes, hair dryers, razors etc. My husband couldn't figure out what was taking me and my daughter so long !!! :rolleyes1

We're going back to USF in June and I asked the kids "Do you want to stay at the RPR or HRH ", and they all said "RPR'. I asked why and they said "the pool".

So if the savings and the pool don't talk you into it (besides Tchoup tchoup), I don't know what will .

Either way, you'll have a great time!!! :woohoo:  :woohoo:  :woohoo:

The pool is important to us since we'll be going at the end of July. We definitely want to be able to relax by the pool on those hot, humid afternoons. I felt that we would be missing something but since you can pool hop at Universal resorts, it makes RPR all the more appealing. We are definitely swimmers, not waders.

the atmosphere at RPR makes you never want to leave!!! i dont know wut else to tell you except that its wonderful!!!!

We have only stayed at HRH a couple of times. I remember the first time when we were riding the elevator it was silent. My son said that it's because they can't have elevator music at the Hard Rock! I truly don't remember it being that loud in the hotel. Self parking can be a problem at HRH.
I think what makes RPR special are the people and the service we receive. At check in the hula girl in the lobby really spoke to me. The standard room size is a little tight but the only time they put us in a standard room is when we take the dogs. They house the pets in Tower 2 and you rarely see them. The Executive Suites have 650 square feet which is more than enough for us. We love Tchoup Chop and the Islands breakfast buffet. I'm totally hooked on the fitness center's steam room and 16 person, indoor, co-ed whirlpool. The Bali theme throughout is well done. The walk to IOA is short. The lagoon pool is the largest in the city of Orlando. It was more comfortable for my kids to join in a volleyball game in the RPR pool than HRH but I must admit they prefer HRH. HRH's pool area feels a bit more hectic. RPR's Tower 1 has the best views of the parks. RPR is quieter as far as hallway noise. I think you get more of a party crowd at HRH. My dogs liked HRH better because the windows are lower and they could watch the people around the pool. We had Thankgiving dinner at the HRH's Kitchen and it was sensational.
