I don't think this has been posted yet (forgive me if it has).

Attractions Magazine are claiming that selfie sticks are officially being banned at Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks and Disney Quest.

"Starting next Tuesday, June 30, when guests are seen at bag check or in the park with selfie sticks, a cast member will escort the guest to Guest Services where their stick will be taken and held until they are ready to leave the park."

I don't even own one, but I can't figure out why people hate them so much. We're at Disney every weekend and I've never seen someone hit by one nor have they ever bothered me. I just see people having fun taking fun pics of their family all at once.

I find it hard to believe that they're going to escort each person with one to guest services. Seems over kill and silly to me but I'm sure many people will quote me and tell me wrong I am. lol

It's about time! Don't think injury is an issue just tired of taking pictures of attractions and such with peoples selfie sticks in my picture. You try to take a picture without peoples heads in the way and the lo' and behold there is a selfie stick in your picture. Kudos WDW management.

Until it's officially announced by Disney/or announced on the hubb. (cast website) don't assume it's true.

I hope they still let me use my monopod, which is only about 8 inches long and serves as a handle for my video camera. I don't use it to extend my reach or anything; It just makes holding the camera more ergonomic on my wrist, and also makes it easier to turn the camera.

I just hope they don't ban any additional photography equipment in the interest of consistency.

I seriously hope this is true. California Screaming at DL was shut down for an hour on Wednesday because of a douche with a selfie stick. I HATE selfie sticks with a passion!! You do not deserve to have all of your party in a picture together if you do not have the nerve to ask a stranger to take it!! It's a Disney pastime, people!
