Self-serve returning to Cabanas

Wait… I can’t have my deck party but snotty kids can all touch every thing at the buffet again?

Sigh. They better at least bring back more selections. It’s been pitiful on our last two cruises.

agree on this, can’t believe buffet is self serve again before sail away has returned, I know which I’d rather have and it isn’t the route disney have picked

on my last few cruises cabana dinner was not being offered. Maybe this is the plan to free up cast members to start cabana dinner service, esp if they increase capacity. Hoping to hear the numbers Soon.

I really don't understand the lack of sail away party or at least the pirate party. Marvel day at sea fireworks included what basically was a pirate party (better but similar in term of how close performers were) and that happened...

Can you tell I want my deck parties back?

Also can we go back to swapping papers for trivia? People like to cheat.

What does the statement in the article about port adventures mean? It says "Port Adventures are returning to their pre-COVID procedures wherever possible as well." Does anyone know what procedures were in place?

Could not agree more. I’ll never forget watching a grown man in Cabanas serve himself food, eat some of it off his plate, lick his fingers, and then move down the line to touch more serving utensils. Ugh.

I hope it’s true that they are bringing back the Palo buffet since that’s the only thing that would make me feel better about this!

Pirate night is back... it was back 2 weeks ago on the WBPC... felt almost as a pre-pandemic pirate night...only thing that didn't make it so was the ship being at ~ 60% capacity so the deck wasn't full of ppl.
Not sure about other sailings afterwards but it sure appeared as DCL decided to bring them back

I would take a wait and see. Wasn't it the EBPC that got a sail away party and then no more happened?

honestly it’s disgusting people like this that make me wish it would stay served, I have absolutely no issue with asking the CM what to put on my plate and felt it was much more hygienic

They were doing “bubble” port adventures. You had to stay with your group and had to get back on the ship as a group. If you were vaccinated, you could get back off after but had to return with your group to the ship first. We did the beach break in Cozumel and had a specific section of the beach we used and a specific area we ate in, we weren’t mixed with the other ships. If you had any unvaccinated kids (under 5s), they were only allowed off the ship on a Disney port adventure.

I second the whole germ thing. I also rather have CM serve you because then you won't see so much food waste as you do when people serve themselves!!!

I actually liked the bubble part of the port adventures. The beach part just to DCL in Costa Maya was lovely. (I don't like to share- I'm an only child)

I liked it for the most part. My only complaints were the time (ours was significantly shorter then the same pre-covid offering) and that we had to get back on the ship before we could get off again to shop (I just wanted to grab vanilla, ha!).

This will make it a lot easier for people with littles. I was hearing about people who couldn’t get a DCL port adventure that would take the right age group st all so they had to stay on the ship at certain ports

Do you think this means that there will be more food choices offered at Cabanas now that they are lifting cast members serving the food (more like pre COVID)?
I really hope so. I last cruised right before things started getting locked down, so I never experienced the COVID protocols in Cabanas. But from what I read on this board, food choices were relatively limited.

So, yeah, I am hoping this gives them the space and breathing room to reintroduce more variety back into the mix.

That pendulum swings both ways. I would ask for 3 slices of bacon and get 6, or 1 of something and get 3, or 1/2 spoon full and get a full scoop, that was more the norm than the exception and rarely did the CM remove anything from the plate.

They can’t take back, just like any extra sugar/butter/ketchup etc packets you ask for and don’t use get thrown out. While I hear what you’re saying and don’t like to hear it,
I may feel slightly less bad if they give it versus consciously load my plate up with, for example, shrimp just because it’s “included” and then only eat 2. The food waste is amazing.

They are still holding the plate when they are told. I haven't even touched it. A few will remove the extra, but very few.
