Self Checkout or Cashier?

I like to get out of store asap, if self check out is not backed up, then I'm there! :thumbsup2

When I lived in New England, I loved the scanner they had at Stop-n-Shop. I would bag my groceries as I shopped and just scan the part at the end and be done.

Here, I use the Cashier at Publix. Always friendly and always a bagger to be found.

I almost always use the self-checkout. DH and I can go through the line much quicker than with a cashier and don't have to worry about them combining cleaning supplies with food (which seems to happen pretty much every time I use a cashier).

I prefer a cashier! I hate shopping enough without having to deal with the self check out too.

I just read an article that many stores are doing away with them do to the amount of theft and scamming that people are doing.

I do the self checkout all the time. BUt I hate it when the parents let the kids do it. The ones that have to explain every thing to the child about what is happening and why.

Or the one where the kids is crying because he wants to do it again.

Eep! Sorry... Okay, I'll try not to be aggravated with the apple people... ;) I'll focus my angst on the idiots who are too busy talking on their cell to get out of my way. LOL

LOL Not a problem! I'm sure I looked like an idiot...I felt like one! But yeah some people really clog up the self-checkout.

Self checkout unless I have coupons or am buying alcohol. It is a pain to deal with either of those going through the self checkout.

I like bagging my own groceries or having DD do it. I make sure the cold stuff gets in the insulated bag and the canned goods aren't sitting on top of the bread!

Definitely self check out. I avoid cashiers if at all possible. My supermarket has the scan and bag as you go thingy and I love that! No more waiting in long lines to be rung out and my groceries are bagged properly and not squished anymore!

Cashier all the way! If I have the kids in two, they want to fight over scanning our groceries and it takes longer to get out. Besides, I haven't memorized the code for bananas yet.

Cashier.....especially now, wouldn't want to think anyone else may be let go.

Cashier, I figure that I don't want all the people at the grocery store to be replaced with machines. We just got our first self check outs around a month ago and right now they require a lot of staff but I'm thinking long term they will reduce the front till staff and I would rather be supporting them and letting them scan my stuff.

I use self check when I just have a few items. When I have a cart full I prefer to let the cashier do the work, even though there are unlimited item count self check lanes.

Since I usually shop at Trader Joe's these days I have to do cashier, but in any other store it's self checkout if possible. I just like scanning things. :thumbsup2 If I am at Target and get anything on clearance I always have to double check it to make sure the price is what it says it is. :rotfl:

And I always seem to get the checker at other stores that seems to think she has to bag the groceries by type. I can bag everything into one or two bags and they do 4 or 5. (this is when I forget my re-usable ones)

I use the self scanning while shopping at Stop & Shop and then go through the self checkout. I can shop much faster, bag my own just like I want it and check out quickly.

Self check out unless there's a reason I shouldn't like I have an oversized item (at BJ's Wholesale) or if I have clearance/discounted items or if I am over the limit of my items.

I choose the Cashier. I'd rather employ a person over a machine.

I only use self-checkout if it's the only option. I don't like getting into an argument with a machine.. "Please remove the last item from the bag and scan it before placing it in the bag." Folks give me weird looks when I reply, "But, I did scan it!" And, when I remove the item to rescan it? "Please place the item back in the bag." Grrrrrrr!!!
