Select all of the resort dining places listed that you really like...as in a 4 or 5 out of a 5 scale like.
My signature below gives my ratings.
With few exceptions, non-Signatures are not likely to receive 4-5 star ratings from me.
I do, however, give a few to some Qwik Serve places that offer a bit more than a typical Qwik Serve (i.e., live Piano Player at Casey's).
More plainly, in my opinion - no 'basic' table service establishment has food or an experience that is really worth a hassle of traveling.
We all have our own particular preferences from your list.
For instance:
-- We stay at Bay Lake/Contemporary and avoid The Wave. Believe me, we've tried. We prefer Kona, despite the hassle of taking the Monorail (and the hassle violates my unwritten rule about traveling for food at Disney).
-- GFCafe is un upscale diner menu with things like a hamburger & lobster combination. Certainly more 'vanilla' than Kona, but not a bad choice for the Monorail resorts....and would also be my preference over The Wave. Also, the GF resort is a lovely place to stroll through shops and listen to the live jazz band....making this an arguably 'better' choice than Kona.
-- Whispering Canyon is fun and not intended to be fine dining that would warrant a 4-5 star rating (unless giving points for the fun and/or value of refillable milkshakes; which is not added value for a diabetic like myself). I kinda' like the antics and the bonus of taking a boat ride from Bay Lake, but my wife dislikes some of the antics that encourages playing with food and/or watching me consume a refillable milkshake.
-- Captains Grill is nowhere near as good as nearby Flying Fish (which I believe is under renovations) or BlueZoo (a family favorite). We likely prefer any of the next three on the Boardwalk [Trattoria, ESPN, Big River].
-- Trattoria - have not been yet, but it is our type of menu. Regardless, Il Mulino remains a family favorite when we stay on Boardwalk.
-- ESPN - surprisingly better than expected. But we mostly stop in after Animal Kingdom when staying on Boardwalk (since table service in AK is limited), or for a cold drink after walking from Epcot. Can bar food ever be a 4-star or better? For instance - I very much enjoy the nachos. If traveling with boys (and some sports-minded men), this is a no-brainer.
-- Big River - no ADR's taken for standard red meat burgers and steaks. By Disney standards, not bad value either.
-- Boma - we are not necessarily fans of buffets, but Boma breakfast is certainly a standout (which is a reason it is leading in your poll). For daylight dinner, however, we prefer Sanaa. But if you are not staying at AKLodge or driving yourselves, this (and Sanaa) can be a long journey for a meal (and violates my unwritten rule about traveling afar for food at Disney).
