Court tells Disneyland to study use of Segways by park visitors
Appeals panel overturns lower court's decision in favor of Disney in lawsuit by disabled woman who was refused permission to use the two-wheeled device.

Maybe it would work out better if Disney had a Segway Day or Segway Night Event like they do for other special events. And close the park for only handicap Segway users, "no one walking". Yep, for safety sake everyone should be on a Segway. That way no person gets run over by Segways not stopping in time.

But it really seems like an accident waiting to happen. We have ridden Segways in DC (great fun) and they were wonderful on the street. But the minute we entered the side walk where people walked it was very difficult to avoid people especially children and teens. Personally I Love Segways!!! But they do go fast.

I have ridden Segways at many different places (crowds and no crowds). I love them. However, I can definitely see how this could be dangerous. I wouldn't want this to happen. The strollers are dangerous enough. I can't tell you how many times I've been rammed by a stroller.

When I was racing in Las Vegas in 2002 I was put into the wall and cracked ribs and strained my back.
Thanks to my Safety gear, the next day I was very very sore but with painkillers was able to drive.

However, that morning in the pits a multimillionare team owner was riding his Segway in the pits, fell off hitting his head and DIED.

Segways can travel pretty fast (12.5mph). I do not think that Segways in a crowded Disneyland would safe for the riders or the public.

I heard about this on the radio this morning and I would have to agree that a Segway is too fast and unstable at slower speeds to be around people walking especially at Disneyland or WDW. I've already been run into by several electric wheelchairs at Disneyland and the last thing I want to be hit by is a Segway.
