Segway Tour

We've been looking forward to doing the Segway Tour at Epcot ever since we first heard about it.

Today we call to book it as an event for our holiday vacation (2 WEEKS) and are told that they will not be offering the Segway tour from 12/18 through 1/1/06.

Of course we arrive the afternoon of the 17th (after Segway tour hours) and leave the morning of the 2nd (before Segway tour hours).

As you can tell- I'm just a BIT FRUSTRATED!!!!!

We'd been planning all year for this tour- during our longest trip, and can't spend our money........

Hopefully we'll have an answer before December.

I'm not sure- but the CM on the phone had no idea why.

She just said that all of the dates for the tour were 'blacked out' on her computer screen.

I will post the response that we get from Disney if we get one....

Don't feel too bad, you probably wouldn't have gotten one anyway at less than 90 days. I have been trying since September to book one for the beginning of December and have had no luck. They have been booked since 90 days out for all my dates and no cancellations. I am going to keep trying, but I doubt it'll happen.

That does make me feel better, kinda!

The CM didn't say that they were booked up though- just that they were blacked out.

It'll definitely be interesting to see the answer.....

We have a tour schdeuled for the 17th of December and no one said that it was the last one or anything like that.

I called a long time ago for ressies and the same thing happened to me. I was so bummed (spelling?) because I told my husband and sons all about it, and how cool it would be to go on it. I was so dissapointed for them. My plan was to let them go on that, while my daughters and I went on the Holiday Tour. Oh well. If there is time I still might do that. Anyways I feel for you because I am feeling the same thing!!

I hate to create more competition for myself, but here goes.....
I will be there during the same time you will and I was able to secure 1 Segway Around the World Tour on Dec 30 that came in as a cancelation last week. I need one more slot, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Some of the CMs are confused because the 9:30 slot is blacked out, but not the 8:30 slot. If you are persistent, you may get the Tour. However, there are very few available to begin with and you (we) are competing for these slots with 200,000 or so people. Don't get your hopes up!

We took the Segway Tour last Wednesday, (It was a blast, I am sorry you were not able to book it.) and the CM told us they were booked solid through the rest of the year.
We booked way in advance for this. It is limited to a total of 20 people, 10 in each of 2 tours, per day. As more and more folks hear about it, I am sure it is difficult to get.
I can understand them cancelling the later tour during the holidays. The later group does complete their tour of World Showcase after it opens. If the crowds are large, this could be difficult to finish with "new drivers". I am sure there is a safety and liability concerns about running someone over or someone getting hurt.

Sorry you are not able to do the Segway tour this trip. I booked our Segway tour for early December last July - I was surprised to learn that you do not have to wait until the 90 day mark to book this tour. I originally called just for information and the CM suggested I book right away. These are VERY popular!

I agree with the poster who thought you wouldn't have gotten one only 2 weeks in advance anyway. Hope you get to do one on your next trip!

We've been trying to get a spot for weeks...sold out on Dec 12th, 14th and 15th. With only 10 spots per tour I suspect these sell out fast and perhaps sometimes blocked for VIPs or something.

I'm subscribing to this thread, hoping to find out for sure if they are just booked solid OR blacked out and cancelled over the holidays. Of course, can't call today due to hurricane closure. I booked our family of 6 for Dec. 21st months and months and months ago...part of an extended family trip we're taking. It will not be pixie magic if they have since cancelled the tours.
