I wanted to share our delight with the Segway Tour.

My husband got to do it one day, and I did it the next. We couldnt get reservations on the same day. Let me tell you it was one of the best things about our trip. Even though we were not together, it was awesome.

We both got an 8:30 tour. So you have to get to guest services by 8:15am. No big deal. They sign you in and then take you over to the Innovations bldg where you get your training. The instructors are great, and the same people who teach you how to use them are the same ones who take you on the tour around Epcot.

I am not the most coordinated person but I caught on pretty quick. The hardest part was keeping it perfectly still. Forward, back, turning was pretty easy. It only took a few minutes until we were all very comfortable driving it around. They made a little obstacle course for us, inside the bldg and they said we had to master it before we could go out into the real world. In reality it was probably about a half hour total learning how to ride it.

Then they take you out into Epcot. The Future World part was open, but we went over to the World Showcase. They took us around the countries, up into some fun paths (one was pretty difficult to do ont eh Segway but I didnt crash or anything). They told us some fun facts about the countries and we got to see them without any guests around. They let us take photos a few times, and we got to do a little free ride in one area. It was really fun.

Then you go back to the Innovations Bldg. By this time Future World was getting kind of crowded, so manuevering around the people was fun. Everyone was staring at us and asking what we were doing. It was great. My husband and kids were watching me and laughing as I came back in to park my Segway. I loved the tour, and my husband did too. It is most defnitely worth every penny.

We have done several backstage tours, and we've done Segway twice. It is awesome!! I like that you get to DO something while on a tour! I could do it over and over, simply because of the fun factor.

I highly recommend the full 2-hour Segway tour, rather than the 1-hour skill tour, where you just get to learn how to ride them. The time in World Showcase is the best part, by far!

We also enjoyed the Segway Tour in June, son and I did this for Fathers Day together. Next time DW and I will give it go,

Thanks for posting! My girlfriend and I (girls only trip) are doing this in December. Can't wait. Look out World Showcase!!

I booked this as a surprise for DH on our in Dec. It should be fun-if I don't kill myself! ;) I think the helmets should have mouse ears on them though!! :earboy2:

We are doing this in December also (21st)! Just wondering, did you drive to Epcot or use WDW transportation? I'm a little nervous about whether I can be successful at it but excited too! Glad you enjoyed it!

How much does the full 2-hour Segway tour cost? It sounds fun. I might surprise my DW with one next trip...

We ended up taking a taxi from AKL to Epcot because I was afraid I would not get there in time. The buses do start running earlier than park opening, but I could not find out exactly what time they started running. We had to be there at 8:15, but the park didnt open until 9. So we took the taxi. I think it was $12.

The cost of the Segway tour escapes me for some reason. I want to say $80 each for the 2 hour tour. We got a discount of 15 or 20% by using our AAA card, though.

I would call as soon as the 90 day mark hits, or whatever it is for that tour & make your reservation. We were not able to get reservations to do it on the same day, but I feel very lucky that we both got to do it. The guide told me that they are almost always full, but that ocassionally someone will cancel and you can get the tour on a walk up basis. I got mine because someone cancelled :)

Also note: You have to be 16, also. My kids said we have to go back when they both are 16 (now 12 & 14) so they can do the Segways.

I would definitely do it again and again and again.

I'm so excited to do this next year!!

I just booked for my sister and I for Feb 22!!!!! I'm so excited!!

:moped: (sorry - no Segway smilie!!)

I forgot to add that you receive a nice Segway Pin when you complete your 'tour'. A nice touch :)

Thanks for the review...we are booked for the 2 hour one in October (we did the short one in Dec 05) and yes I believe it was $80 pp (we got a DVC discount though so it was less). We were so pumped after the one we did in Dec we couldn't wait to sign up for the longer one!

I found my feet hurt, though, after being on it for 30 minutes, did you find that with the 2 hour one or was it not an issue?

Inga

I'm going in Dec. too!! Look for my Lime Green Mickey Ears!!! I can hardly wait!!The cost for the 2 hour tour is 80 bucks...just booked today! :thumbsup2 :bounce: :dancer: DJ

I wish we had booked one of these tours for our trip last week. We got to try a segway for a very short time when we were in inoventions last week. My sister took pictures but her flash did not go off so they came out dark. It was a lot of fun just to try it and then tell our kids that we had ridden one. They all want to try them but they were not with us on this trip.

I've heard it's best to do the 9:30 tour, because then you're touring around WS right after it opens, and seeing and being seen is really fun. Any one with comments on that?

I think it depends on personal taste.

Personally, I prefered the earlier tour because WS was still closed. It was kinda cool going "backstage" and seeing things that most visitors don't get to see before the parks open.

Even on the earlier tour, when you are leaving WS and heading back to the main building, you are going through open areas of Epcot so you will be seen.

Thanks for the review! DH and I are scheduled to do the 2-hour Segway tour when we're at WDW Nov. 1-5. I have been wanting to do this for a while now--they were all booked the last itme we were at WDW!

you have to be atleast 16 to ride and not over 250 LBS...SO if your kids are young they won't be allowed..DJ

Booked this tour last week for Sept 24 - cost with discount was $68 each. The 7:45 one seemed to be open all week but the rest were limited. We will be doing the 8:30 one and that is pushing it as my 20 son is not an early riser.
