We did the Segway Tour in Epcot today and it was a blast!

I was really nervous going in, but it was really something we both wanted to do. You get 10 minutes of sit down insruction, 50 minutes of individual instruction on the Segway and then an hour out on the grounds of World Showcase.

I thought we would just glide through each country - I was so wrong. You learn to really move on the Segway and we wandered through the countries like I've never seen them. We went through winding gardens in Japan, we weaved through the columns in Italy and we went all through the market in Morocco.

The instructors are fantastic and this tour was a blast.

Don't forget that if you are a DVC member or AP passholder you also get a discount.

This tour runs once a day and only 10 people are on it!

Can you bring your small children with you. What are the age requirements?

Thanks for sharing your review! Sounds like you had a great time :)

The minimum age for this tour is 16. Small children and anyone in your party not taking the tour are welcome to watch the first portion as you are learning to ride the Segway, but once the tour moves into World Showcase they are no longer able to watch. the reason for this is that World Showcase is not open to the public when the tour goes back there.

The day I did the tour we had the wife and son of one of the participants watch and photograph the beginning of the training.

Thanks for posting. DH and I are booked for 8/5. I'm nervous, he's wanted to ride a Segway ever since he first saw them!

You can test "drive" a segway at this mall in Orlando...

Mall of Millenia
Orlando, FL 32809
407-370-5356

According to Segway.com, I think we might stop in there one day to try it. They cost between 4-6 thousand each.

A company that rents them here in east Orlando stopped by my college, and first by the office I work in. I got to ride a Segway for a couple minutes! It really fueled my desire to ride it again. DBf and I are planning a "vacation" at Disney next May, and we're definitely going to do this tour.

Thanks for sharing. Dh and I are doing this tour in Oct. and the positive report is reassuring. :D

Be sure and take your camera with you. Cameras and purses can fit in the bags in the front. You get a stop for some great shots like this!

I have to tell you I was very nervous especially during the first hour. Once we got out to World Showcase I really started having fun!

additional restriction is that you must be under 250 lbs.

Also, you can get the discount by using your Disney Visa too.

Can't wait to do this in October!

I have been to disney many times and have no idea what/where or how much this is. DBF and I are heading to disney in july and wondering if this is something to look into. Any info would be helpful...

thanks in advance

This looks like such fun! I booked for October, It will be a surprise for my husband (if I can keep from blurting it out! I am really bad at keeping secrets from him, I want him to be as excited as I am!):bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

So far, October 18th Segway tour is 60% DISBoarders!

With parties of two are:

flyinglizard
mhelsley
PatriciaH

Anybody else on the 18th??? I'll bring the lime green tape for the helmets...

I called Thursday and the 18th was full. There are still 4 spots on the 19th!

My son and husband are taking the tour on 8/1, and my daughter and I are doing dolphins n depth, (because my daughter is not old enough to do segway). We don't have to arrive for our tour until about 30 minutes after ds and dh have to be there for the segway tour....Do you think we will have enough time to watch them for a minute or two and maybe take a picture? Do they start these tours pretty much on time?

ladybugz11,
I have taken the tour a couple of times--and they strive to keep on schedule because of the part of the tour that takes place over at World Showcase has to be complete before the other guests are allowed in at 11:00am when WS opens.
However, the first part of the segway tour involves helmet selection, watching a video and then watching a demonstration... Then, the actual instruction on the Segway units begins. This is all done "offstage", I don't know if they would permit non-participants back to take a picture--and you might find yourself in a time crunch getting over to your tour if you waited for that part...
