I just found the info on this Segway Tour at Deb's site. I am still curious though if you have done it, if you liked and enjoyed it ... and would you recommend it? Thanks again!
It's a blast. Not much of a tour per se. Mostly it is a chance to get to learn how to drive a Segway. The cool part is you do it around WS. Just be ready to stand still for two hours. My feet hurt a little after we were done!
I just called to book the segway tour as well and they said that to get a AAA discount, you need be a AAA Diamond member (I have no idea what that is) or you have to be on a Disney Package. (We're staying at my in-law's timeshare so that's out.) Other than that, if you have a Disney Visa Card, Annual Pass, or Disney Vacation Club membership to get a discount.
It was interesting - something unusual. And fun too. As far as the debate I saw about whether or not people with disabilities should be able to bring these into the parks - after taking the tour and riding one.... it takes a lot of leg strength to ride a segway for an extended period of time (ie., after an hour of practice, my legs were hurting and after two hours I was more than ready to give them a rest. Walking is easier on the legs if you are going to be on the segway for an extended period. I don't think they are practical for people with disabilities (for a person w/ fatigue issues, a scooter is a much, much better choice.) Plus, they are harder to control than a scooter. Distractions can be dangerous.
I called today and made a ressie for the Segway tour on April 6, 2004. My DH and I are going on the Tour while my DD14 will watch DD6. But my DD14 really wishes she could go on the Segway tour!!!
I'm glad I asked all of you ... I would not have expected for the Segway to be so tiring on the legs!
