If you've been on both, which would you choose?

We did the little demo thing at EPCOT last year and DH was beside himself (what is it with guys and these things?) So I want to surprise him with one of the tours this August.

I think he'd really get a kick out of the 'all terrain' versions at Fort Wilderness, but we'd end up wasting a whole park morning. With the EPCOT one, we'd be able to go to EPCOT afterwords.
TIA!

We did EPCOT Segway tour Jan '07 - LOVED it.

For this Dec '08 trip DH wants to do Wilderness All Terrain trip- but I didn't think about NOT being in a park.

I would be interested too in hearing what others says who have done both segway tours.

Yeah, between getting to FW and then doing the tour it would be mid afternoon before we could get to a park, which is a major no-no in August. So we'd have to just chill for the afternoon and then go somewhere that night. But that's not so bad. We really want to walk around the Boardwalk this trip, so maybe that would be a good day for that...such a hard decision!

DH & I doing the Fort Wilderness one in August (we've already done the Epcot World Showcase one). DH ADORES Segways ever since we did this and can't wait to try the new one!! I mean, he's CRAZY about them now!!:rotfl:

Our plan is to eat lunch at Trail's End after the tour, then head by boat to MK for the rest of the afternoon and evening. If the timing goes as planned, we'll arrive in time to watch the 3:00pm parade and then focus on the non emh attractions until MK closes at 10:00pm, as we'll be back for a night emh later in the week.

I'm concerned about the heat though.... as the tour starts at 11:30 and lasts two hours.

Is the FW one doable if you are an especially clumsy girl like me??:rotfl:

We tried the free little sample run of it at Innoventions and I have to say it took me a few minutes to feel steady on that thing!

I've read every review I could find and it sounds like the FW is not really any more difficult than the EPCOT one. Lots of people said they were afraid they were too clumsy and they did just fine.

I've seen pics and the trail is very level and empty of depris.

Has anyone done both?

I know someone is out there!!

CJ what day are you doing the tour? Maybe we'll be on the same one!

Loved BOTH of them, but I give an edge to the FW Tour. :hippie: It was very scenic and our guides were both fun and knowlegable about Disney. The big pneumatic "off road" tires felt more springy. This is a good thing, because we did go over some obstructions.

If possible I would go on the VERY first tour of the day. Unless it is overcast it WILL be hot. They do provide an ice chest with bottled water. Make sure to put one in your Segway pouch before you go. You'll be glad you did! I agree about grabbing some breakfast at the Trails End buffeteria... or just get a coffee and hop on the boat to the MK. No reason to waste a day unless you just want to chill. :woohoo:

Hope you all have a great time!

We're booked for the 2nd tour at 11:30 am on Friday August 22. To do the earlier one would just be too early for us as we'll be going from the Pop Century. When are you going?

We have done both. As a matter of fact we have done Epcot 4 times and did FW last fall before it had become a permanent tour. We Loved FW tour. It was so different and we loved the nature tour as well. The cast members were great and had alot of Disney trivia to pass on. Would love to do FW again but the fact is we would do either!! Anyone who hasn't or is a little apprehensive don't be. Just go and enjoy!!!

Does anybody know, how serious are they about enforcing the minimum age requirement? Our kids would love to do this -- they are both 14 1/2, and I think the stated age requirement is 16.

We'll be gone by then. August 10-17. Darn.

I think it's 18 not 16 and if any of the other age specific things I've done, they are very careful with the age. But they don't ask you to bring a birth certificate or anything.

They make age requirements for a reason and I wouldn't try to circumvent them.

Anyone else done both?

DBf and I both did the EPCOT tour and the DCA tour last year and loved it. We were actually debating if we should do the FW tour, but our only concern is the bugs problem in August. What should I do?:confused3

We did the Epcot one at 7:30 am last month. Dh and I loved it! There is something about being in Epcot and seeing the day to day maintenance, the workers, the flowers and the EMPTINESS that is so fantastic. I would go to this one again in a heartbeat.

It ended around 9:30 and we were able to get right over to Soarin and get our FP then have a nice breakfast at Sunshine Seasons.

Greetings Harleyquinn from Akron. DH and I also tested the segways at Epcot and loved it. We are going back in July and it will be his 40th B-day and I booked a tour at Epcot for the two of us, kids are not old enough yet (11&14), and we can't wait. The kids are bummed they can't go.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone!
(Hi BC :wave2)
Keep the reviews coming!

I did the Epcot one with a girlfriend a few years ago......today I booked my husband and two sons (16 & 17) on the Ft. Wilderness one at 11:30 .......I cant wait to take pictures..

Our two daughters will be 14 and cant go on so we will check out Ft Wilderness (after taking said pictures)....I think I may ask if I could see a Wilderness Cabin if one is free....I would love to see what they look like. We will go to the stables and maybe rent a surrey while we wait. I have Trails End booked for lunch at 1:35 and then over to POR for the searaycers.....

I am so excited about this day which is actually the day BEFORE we check into Disney for free dining.......so we arent wasting a ticketed day for the parks.

I did both! I did both! I loved both of them. You get more time to ride around on the segway if you do FW than if you do Epcot. You experience more different movements if you do Epcot - but the only free riding is just around a little circle. Personally I preferred Epcot, just wish we could have as much time as on FW. Getting to FW was hard from AKL. Took a cab and he didn't know where to go...

My DH and his brother will do the FW 8:30 am tour on Aug 22 (Friday I think) - and we had planned that as a non-park day, so no issues there. We are also at VWL, so are close by. They are looking forward to it.

We have done the epcot one a couple of times and loved it. We will be doing the FW one next Tuesday. :yay:

Thanks for all the replies!!!

Please come back with your impressions if you are doing one of the tours soon!

I just completely can't choose one!!!
