Leaving in less than 28 days and would like to segment - DDxDP on 1st night, no dining 2nd night, DDP the remaining nights. From everything I've read here, I can segment without losing my ressie even if there's not availability.
We're staying at SSR. Although I don't want to, I will go to the front desk first thing on day 2 and 3 to get new KTTW cards (if I have to). The big question is, what is happening with cards that have theme park tickets loaded on them? We are a party of 9. Most of us will have annual passes, but 3 in our party will have regular tix on their room key. These three are new to WDW so I will have to take care of all the hiccups for them. TIA!

Their tickets on the KTTW cards will still be valid, even if you then have to get new cards for room entry & DDP. You could ask at the resort if they can transfer them from the old cards to the new ones, but reports of success at that seem to vary a bit.

How are you getting tickets on those room keys anyway, since you can't purchase tickets through DVC with your reservation? Are you planning on buying them at the resort when you arrive?

To save money, we ALWAYS buy tickets in advance and then upgrade, if needed. In our case, DH & I bought through undercovertourist and will upgrade to DVC AP at check-in (we save $28/ticket).
DD is FL res - her fam has "wild 4 disney" & will upgrade to one of the seasonal resident AP's.
Other DD & fam (who will have tix on keys) are getting through AAA & adding days @ check-in (savings of $26/ticket).

We've always bought in advance. Since changing to MYW tix, at least at BWV, they have put on key for us regardless of whether purchasing additional days or not (unless opting to get AP's).
