ok, so I am a bit new to DVC, my mum has been in it for years but she isn't htat clued in to all the benefits etc.
Am I to understand this right,
We currently have 10 nights staying in a 2 bed villa at AKL for 6 ppl. I can phone up the reservation line and "segment this reservation and therefor allow us to be on the dining plan some days and not others?
Is this right??? even though we aren't changing hotels??

Yes, you have it correct. We have our 4 night stay segmented into 1 night and 3 nights so we can just have the dining plan on one night. It is a great perk!

Make sure that you get a knowledgeable CM. If you get one that says "If I do this for you, you might lose your reservation...", then ask for a supervisor. It can be done without the risk of losing your reservation - I have my next 3 trips segmented.

I emailed how I wanted to have it segmented. I included my member # and my reservation # in my email and 2-3 days later it was done.

not sure when you did this but I tried to do it about 3 weeks ago and received an email back saying I had to call ms to take care of it.....waited a week and send another email...received the same response so last week i called and they took are of it over the phone......I think I read that another member received the same email in the last week or so:confused3

I did it it about 3 weeks ago. Maybe they have stopped accepting them by email.

Wow, what a great choice! I'm just trading into DVC thru RCI. Can you guys also put some people on the DDP but not others (staying in the same room)?

I would call MS before ou get too excited about this. As an exchange you are not a DVC Member and may not have the capability to segment. You might, but until you were told yes by MS I woud not be sure. As an RCI exchanger you do not receive free internet nor the restaurant discounts given to DVC members with a blue member id. That is why I am not sure. Please let us know what you find out as I would be interested in knowing if exchangers through RCI can segment.

We are DVC members and own at VWL. In March we stayed at BWV using an RCI exhange with our Hilton Head timeshare that is non-DVC. It was supposed to be just DH and I. At the last minute DD and my mom were there for 2 days of our stay. DH and I had the DDP. I just added my mom and DD to our reservation when we checked in. They were legitimately in the room but we did not have to pay for a whole weeks worth of dining for them.

Have a great trip!

I talked to DVC and they cannot segment an RCI exchange because it's a one week block, they cannot split it themselves (only their own DVC reservations). That's okay, I think we should be able to use up the credits if we eat breakfast out of the room some days.

But it looks like I could leave my mom off the DDP, doing like you suggested, just adding her at check in. But then I'll have to figure out something else for the ME.

Thanks :goodvibes
