Segmented Dining Plan Reservation

We are just back from 7 nights at AKV-Kidani. We segmented our reservation about 2 weeks prior to check in, making our first night deluxe and the following 6 nights as DDP. We checked in about 11 am on Saturday and the young lady checking us in did have trouble with the check in, but she was new and we were the first time she had checked in a segmented reservation. After some time she was able to print all 4 cards, two with charging (me and DH) and two without (our guests). I asked if I needed to get new room keys in the am since we were segmented and she told me I did. She also thought the deluxe would be on current room keys and regular on the new keys, but like I said she was new!
We used the first 8 credits at CG with no issues.
I went to the front desk on Sunday am about 9am and got a different CM to check about the new room keys but she said I did NOT need new room keys, everything was showing on the current key. She also stated that the snack credits in her computer were now murged, not seperate as I thought they would be. I had asked how do I make sure we use the deluxe snack credits that will expire first, do I need to tell the cashier something, but she thought they were now all murged as one set. She did comment that the dining credits were still seperate, 4 deluxe credits left and then all the regular dining plan credits were in a different set.
I had told all the others in our party that we had 2 snack credits each that MUST be used by midnight on Sunday (just in case the front desk was wrong), but they were not wanting but one (I used both of mine by midnight) but the girl at the front desk was correct, they were still available the day after they should have been expired.
We then used the last 4 deluxe credits Sunday night with no issues. We also used a counter service during the day on Sunday from the second portion of the dining plan with no issues.
So basically we had no problems, even had the nice surprise of the snack credits working after they should have expired! I would not recommend trying to use meal credits after they should have expired, but it was nice to have the snack credits carry over!:thumbsup2

Thank you for the examples....the quote is non functional so I am copying and pasting...

"The rule is you must have the DP for each person on your reservation for each night of your reservation.

However, you can segment your reservation into multiple smaller reservations (and then link them) and the functional result is that you can pick and choose the days you want to use the DP ..."

Here is why I am confused....

If you must have the DP for each person on the reservation, how is it possible to pick and choose? I can choose "No dining plan" as the dining plan?

For example, can I have the first three days with dining and the last three without?

Thanks for your help:)

Yes, you can. What they mean is that you can now segment your trip so you can get it for some of your nights and not others, or get different dining plans for each of the segments.

However, everyone listed in the room must get the dining plan if you plan on adding it for a segment.

I am doing 5 nights this summer---2 nights at BWV and 3 nights at BLT. I have added the QSDP to night 1 (and not night 2) at BWV and added 1 night of the DxDDP (but not night 2 and 3) at BLT.

Everyone in the room will be on those plans--I can't get the QSDP for some on the first night and then the DDP for others that same night.

Hope this helps!

You can't just call Member Services and say "I want the dining plan for the first 3 days of my reservation and the last three without."

It's more accurate to say "I want to stay at Disney World from (example) May 1 to May 7 and segment my reservation so I have the dining plan for 3 nights (nights of May 1-3) and no dining plan for 3 nights (nights of May 4-7) ." You would make two separate reservations in the same type of room. Those reservations would be linked under the same reservation number so you would not have to change rooms, but technically they are separate reservations. You would have the dining plan for the first 3 night reservation and no dining plan for the 2nd 3 night reservation. Your dining credits would expire at midnight between May 4th and May 5th. You would have no dining credits to use on May 5, 6 or 7. You might have to check out and check back in on May 4 but I am not clear on that.

I hope I did the math right.

On the nights you want the dining plan, you still must purchase the same plan for every person registered in the room age 3 or over. If you are asking if some of the guests registered in your room can get the dining plan while others don't, anyone who is registered in the room on the nights you choose to add a dining plan must get the dining plan. It won't work to say "we want the dining plan for the kids but not the parents for the first 3 nights" or "we want the quick service plan for the kids and the deluxe plan for the parents on those three nights" because everybody registered in the room for those nights must get the same dining plan.
