My child will be 4 1/2 by the time we cruise next year. We just got back from a week at Disneyland (his first vacation) and he seemed to "get" Disneyland more than I thought he would (especially since he I haven't exposed him to Disney stuff very much - other than Pixar stuff). In y'all's opinion, do you think he will "get" the Disney cruise experience? Mostly, I am hoping that he will really like the kid's programs so that he and my hubby can have a little time alone together. He is a pretty talkative and socially outgoing child but I wonder if the newness of it all might overwhelm him?? Just looking for others experiences in this area. Any tips? Thanks in advance for taking the time for any feedback you might share.

Our daughter has done the DCL cruise at 3 and at almost 5 - she loved it both times - hardly left the clubs at all - she was into the princesses, of course, but also enjoys Mickey, et al - show you child some of the old disney cartoons with Mickey, et al and he'll be up to date on the characters -

you'll also see Lilo and Stitch, Peter Pan characters,

we're going again in the spring when she will be almost 6 - and she'll move up an age group.

I think it varies. Our 5 year old loves disney and loved disney world, but was bored by the clubs. They were a bit dark, and the activities seemed kind of quiet. he was much more interested in playing in the mickey pool and going to the movie theater.

We have done 3 cruises to date..Our children being 4 and 7 twice, and 5, and 8....On all 3 Times, they have more than "gotten" it, then are IN LOVE with it...They have to be almost dragged out of the clubs, the pools, everything.

The cruise is made for children, families, etc....I can almost be certain, that he will love it..

GOod Luck!!! :goodvibes

I do think it depends on the child, also. Last cruise my kids were 8 (ds) and 4 (dd) and my son, who is not immediately comfortable in a group he doesn't know, chose to spend most of his time with us. My daughter, on the other hand, was in the club all the time. She is my social butterfly who loves new people. They both "got it", but in different ways. Both had the time of their lives.

As far as adult time together, one mistake we made was thinking we would be having a lot of it because we had read that it was hard to drag the kids out of the clubs. For one of my kids at least this wasn't true, and I admit we were suprised at first. Of course, the one time we actually had them both in the club/lab at the same time (late in the cruise) we were so surprised we just wandered around wondering what to do with ourselves! :rotfl:

It sounds like your ds is more like my dd and will love the club, but just in case, I will tell you that they were great about helping interest the child in staying when we had Palo booked, or something like that.

No matter what, you will all have a great time!
