Perhaps I've missed it somewhere else on here, but what are the 2011 holiday foods at DL? We're leaving in 8 days for our first ever Christmas trip to DL! We can't wait to see the fun food offerings for the season :sail:

I saw on another message board a picture from the Holiday menu at Cafe Orleans. It had the following:

The Ghost Host's Bisque - Sweet spicy blend of Piquillo, red, and ghost peppers, chives creme - $5.99

My Beating Heart Bride Chicken - Bacon, goat cheese, herbs stuffed chicken breast, topped with vampire Buerre Blanc, roasted winter squash, and fingerling potato medley - $17.99

Jack Skellington's Coffin - Chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, blood berry sauce - $5.99

Mickey Demitasse - Hazelnut tiramisu with pumpkin mousse and chocolate shavings, served in a souvenir Mickey Mouse demitasse - $7.99

prettyprincessbelle, thanks for the info:) Looks like that must be their fall menu offerings. I wonder where we can find the Christmas season menus?:thumbsup2

Check out the Christmas super thread. The first page has a list and pictures of all the holiday food offerings.

You're welcome!

I know the picture of the menu was taken last week, but I'm not sure if they've changed it to more Holiday-ish themed stuff now.

Thanks, I took at peek and the offering looks yummy:) For some reason, I thought the items varied somewhat from year to year, and knowing that the Christmas super thread has photos from 2010, I wondered if there was anything new. I guess I will soon find out:) :dance3: Thanks again for the input:)

The Christmas Superthread is not a 2010-specific thread (though it was started in late 2010). It's a year-round, all-purpose DLR holiday thread. The lists I posted on Page 1 are sort of the 'master lists' - and those food items stay basically the same from year to year, give or take an item here or there. Some of the locations shut down due to construction. Otherwise, it's all pretty much the same every year!

You can also post any questions about holiday-related stuff in the Superthread, as we are starting to get all kinds of reports in that thread from people who just returned from their holiday trips. That's where the breaking news is!

Another place you can check is the Disney Food Blog and the Disney Parks Blog. Disney Parks Blog recently posted some items available this year (again, pretty much the same stuff they have every year). Disney Food Blog posts only food-related things.

Good luck!

Wow! Thanks, Sherry! I didn't know there was a food blog:) Sounds like a great place to check. I'll keep an eye on the Superthread as I'm sure it will be overflowing with posts as the season gets underway:thumbsup2 I know we're just barely seeing people back from their Christmas trips since it's only been Christmas in DL for less than a week:rotfl: Thanks again for the help!

You're very welcome! The Food Blog doesn't get talked about much because it's not an official Disney website/blog, like the Parks Blog is. But just for information and curiosity's sake, I definitely recommend it!

It's hard to believe that we have been anticipating this holiday season and building up to it for months - and many of us have been planning our trips for months or since last year (I can't believe my trip is only 15 days away, when it has been in the works all year) - and now, as you said, we're just barely beginning to see the first people returning from their DLR Christmas trips! Where has the time gone?

One interesting thing to note is that a couple of holiday food items, such as the tamales served at Rancho del Zocalo in DL, may not be available until at least Thanksgiving, if not after. If I recall, last year they were available for Thanksgiving and on through Christmas, but not when the season first began in early/mid-November. I would assume the same thing will happen this year too.

It's sort of like Disneyland begins its season early, but they don't really get the season into full swing until Thanksgiving - and then the tamales come out, the holiday decorations at the hotels come out, Santa appears at the hotels, etc.

Ah, so you're going when we were originally supposed to go:) We moved our trip up by a week due to dh's work schedule. Dh wanted to go even earlier, but I wondered about the exact thing you mentioned...not everything is in FULL Christmas swing ON 11/14...looks like they kind of work into it:thumbsup2 I have to try the tamales:woohoo: Thanks again for the tip:banana:

I was originally supposed to go starting 11/28, and then I changed to 12/4!:rotfl2: I'm glad to see I'm not the only one changing my dates around!

I definitely like being there when the whole Resort is in full Christmas mode, including all 3 hotels. One of the fun things to do during the season is sit in the GCH lobby by the giant tree and watch the carolers perform, or have a beverage by the fire as Christmas music is played by the pianist or guitarist. It's fun to also get a photo with Santa in that setting as well. Going to DLR before Thanksgiving-ish (give or take a day) means missing out on that experience. Of course, the 2 parks themselves will be decorated as of the official season start date, but it will only be about 75% of the full experience. I'd rather go when I know everything is up and Christmasy!

Still, if I couldn't make it to DLR when things are in full swing, I would go when the season begins. Some holiday stuff is better than no holiday stuff, I suppose!

I agree:thumbsup2 some *holiday* is better than none:) I love the idea of sitting by the fireplace at the GCH. That's where we're staying! It's been 9 years since we last stayed at GCH! We promised our kids that we would book at the Grand if we could manage a Christmas trip..so here we are! I originally had a standard room reserved, but when I moved the dates, all they had available was a woods/courtyard view for an additional $56 total..sounds nice:) I can't wait to sit by the big, beautiful tree, enjoy the sounds and eat Mint Chip Dazzlers from Haagen Dazs

Now, just hoping for good weather;) I hope your trip is fabulous, too!
