I didn't want to hijack the other thread focused on the Fantasy. So I'm looking for any suggestions for the Dream as my daughter has developed some major allergies and if she has anything on the list she won't die but she will be very sick and it will ruin our short 3 night cruise. We have cruised with DCL 20 times without this issue so while we are cruise veterans we are allergy cruising virgins. Any help would be most appreciated.

I will give you a name, but not sure which ship he will be on as they sometimes switch ships from contract to contract. Last January we had Aziz on the Magic and he was great with my GF issue, and was genuinely a great guy. It is a long shot, but sometimes those hit:)

Just putting it out there, with the amount of training that the Kids club counsellors get about food allergies, Im pretty sure that the majority of head servers, servers, assistant servers are pretty 'on it' with allergies. Just be clear with what you can/cant have and they'll do their best. If you're really not happy and there are any issues and feel unsafe then pass it on to someone who can do something about it and change it (i.e guest services).

Please do yourself a favor and make sure the allergies are noted on your reservation. That way they can do the preparation - including dining arrangements (such as a private table - when I called in my gluten-freeness they asked me if I wanted to request a private table because of the allergy) and so forth.

Can you bring it up the first night? Sure. But it will make things smoother if it is noted on the reservation because they will be prepared in advance for helping with food stuffs.

Thanks. Yes we have done that. Travel agent has made it a priority. again, I was just looking to get double secret protection since if the first night is ruined, the whole trip will be a bust on a 3 nighter. Just spent a week at Disney during Christmas and had great restaurant experiences everywhere. I think daughter (18) would go to Disney for every trip just to be able to eat as well as she did on this trip. Just hoping for the same on the cruise. And since we have been on 20 sailings before she developed this allergy (or more accurately since it was discovered) I know for a fact that the head servers can be great and they can be horrible. We had an incredibly bad experience with a head server on one cruise - and with this new allergy being a game changer, I don't want that to happen again.

Just a tip to make the first night smoother. We have always done the onboard buffet in the MDR location, and I have always talked with one of the head servers to preorder the first nights meal. This ensures that the first nights meal doesn't take longer than it should and I would guess it makes the servers night less stressful as well. I am sure you can do the same in the buffet up top, but since I haven't eaten up their on the first day I can't say for sure.

Thank you for that tip! We usually eat in the MDR buffet as well so that's good to know. I know DD will be wary of all buffet food but if nothing else, we will go there to find a head server to discuss that night's dinner!

Aziz IS awesome but he is on the Magic- he was our head server just a couple weeks ago. You'll be in good hands no matter what.

in our experience, all the DCL head servers are very knowledgeable about these issues.
We've never had a problem and have always been very impressed by how much they understand and how willing they are to go above and beyond.

Be sure to notify DCL in advance.

I brought my son's friend, who has a peanut allergy, on a cruise two years ago. The waiters asked if we had any allergies and when we told him the head chef came out to talk to us. Zack was able to order his dinner for the following night every night so the chefs could make sure what he choose was nut free. If he made a choice they were worried about they did not bring it and would offer him something else. They also brought out several dishes they thought he might enjoy. I had no worries at all and I wa extremely impressed with how they handled the situation.
