I've never bothered to do it in Disneyland.
Now that we have kids that age, well you guessed it.
Over at WDW, she always got to the grotto at 10. And you had to be there before 10 and wait a few minutes. By 10 when she got there, there were usually at least 15 kids in line. And 15 kids=30-45 minutes. Now THAT is a slow loader. 20-30 an hour. :rotfl2:

Is there usually a set time she gets there and do you want to be sure you get there like at WDW? Or does she work like the others and you have to look at the guide for her times.

I've never seen set times for Ariel. As with all the characters at DL, you should ask either City Hall or the Character Finder by the Wait Times board near the hub.

Another way to see Ariel (sans fins) is at her restaurant in DCA for either lunch or dinner.

I thought the daily schedule gave a time that Ariel would be in her grotto, but I'm not sure.

I think that she is usually out from 10-6, with breaks. If you happen to walk by while she is there, you can flag down one of the CMs, and they will usually give you an idea of when she will be going on break and returning.

Cool. I'll put her in my plans at 10 and check the times when we get there. Those sound similar to WDW's hours for Ariel. But that one it's well known to get there a bit before 10 because she's so busy. The grotto can develop hour and a half lines or more at WDW. Is she that in demand at DLR?

We've been a couple of times and even when there were a lot of people, the wait didn't seem too bad, though I never looked at my watch, so I am not sure how long we waited. They usually do a good job of moving everyone through quickly, but they also make sure you spend a good amount of time when it is your turn.

last week it was noon to 6:00

We got there at 11:55 and there was already a line (probably about 15 families) but it do go fast, considering autographs and pictures - I think we saw her at 12:15/12:20 or so.
