We head out Monday morning for DLR.

We haven't been there for 3 years, because my DH had kidney failure and was too sick to travel. However, he got a transplant this past May and is now almost back to his old self. :woohoo:

So this is our family celebration of having DH back as an active family member. Our best friends and their 2 kids (best friends with our kids) are joining us. We're staying at the DLH on the fall pin rate in an Upper Pool View Room.

Are we excited? You betcha!!! The girls (OK, Mom too to be honest) have been counting down since July. DD9 told me a few weeks ago that she just couldn't wait any longer and was going to explode. DD7 wrote up her packing list earlier in the week (DS, DS charger, DS game case, clothes, blankie). I think she's got it all covered. :lmao:

We've got lunch ressies at BB and character breakfast ressies at Plaza Inn. FP, MM, touring tips from the DIS have been printed out and highlighted. Haircuts for the girls tomorrow plus laundry. Cats go to the Kitty Hotel on Sunday (they are already giving us evil looks because we've taken out their cat carriers, so they know that Something is Up).

Packing on Sunday. DH bought a new carryon bag just to hold all his post-transplant meds. It ought to be interesting going through security with all that. DH says that if they give him any grief, he'll just pull up his shirt, drop his drawers, and show them his scar. I'll have the camera ready to record this Momentous Event. :rotfl2:

I'm bringing my laptop and am planning to do a live TR with pics (including food porn). I might as well take advantage of the internet connection and get some value from the nightly resort fee. :rolleyes1

I'll let DD9 have the last word here. "This is going to be the BEST trip of my entire life!!!!!! :cheer2:

Have an amazing time!!! I'm so glad your DH is back on the mend!!

have fun. we look forward to lots of pictures

LOL. As I was writing that I realized that I had to load my camera software onto my laptop and bring my USB cable. Onto The List they go!

I carry The List with me. That way, when I think of something I can add it immediately. If not, my brain gets full and I forget about it. As my DH says, Welcome to the Autumn of our Lives. :lmao:

Glad your DH is doing good now. My DS has many medical issues so I know how hard that can be.

Hope you have a great time at DLR! :cool1:

Grats on the transplant. I have been on peritoneal dialysis for 20 months and transplant list for little over a year. I am leaving on my 3rd trip to Disneyland while being on dialysis in 8 days.
Disney lets me do treatments at the first aid stations. All my supplies are delivered to the hotel a few days early. (I must say that HOJO has been most wonderful in receiving my supplies and storing until I get there. I stayed there last time and will this up coming trip. They are my first choice of Hotels above even the Disney hotels).

I hope you all have a wonderful time. I know how tired your husband has been in past but dont over do it. If you need to rest there are first aid stations in DL and DCA. The staff there is wonderful.

I am limited on some rides. Not sure if your husband has the same limits now. If not, please ride space mountain one extra time for me.

As I do peritoneal dialysis I have very few diet or drink limitations. But knowing your husband might have had a few for a while-- hope he drinks and eats to his hearts desire.

Well best get back to my trip arrangements. This is first trip alone since dialysis -- this is the big test.

Have fun -- eat, drink, enjoy rides and parades. Rest, swim, sit and enjoy being at Disney. Wishing you and family a lovely trip. (Secret wish is you get picked to spend night in Disney appt).

Hi Patty. Our prayers are with you for a transplant soon and that you would have strength and energy while you are on dialysis. DH did hemo for 6 months prior to transplant. We are blessed that God provided a living donor for him quickly.

That is so awesome that you feel up to traveling while on dialysis! The ride restrictions are a bummer. We'll be happy to ride Space Mountain in your honor. The doc has given DH the go-ahead to ride all the rides, but he can't swim in the pool because of the germs and him being immunosuppressed. He's OK with that, though. Compared to the invalid that he was a year ago before he started dialysis, not being able to swim for a while longer is fine with him.

We definitely plan to take it easy for him. We're going to take afternoon breaks at the hotel so that he can nap while we swim.

Wishing you a Magical trip!!

So glad to hear you have a wonderful reason to celebrate! Have a great trip!

Aww great news for your hubby! I seriously almost cried. I am so excited for you guys! I hope you have the most wonderful time!!

DH just rolls his eyes when I talk about food porn. I can't wait to see his reaction when I start taking pics of all our food. "No, dear, don't eat that Monte Cristo until I've taken a picture". :rotfl:

I'm glad to hear that DH is doing well. I'm sure this will be a very special time at DL for your family and I hope everything will turn out great. I'd love to read your trip report if you post one!
