See Shuttle Launch From Cocoa Beach?

We have a chance to be in Cocoa beach the Week of May 22-30, just in time hopefully for the launch of the Space Shuttle. Has anyone seen a launch from Cocoa Beach? It doesn't look far at all from the launch site so I was wondering if it would be better to see it up close and fight the crowds or just see it from the Beach!

we used to be stationed at Patrick Air Force Base just south of Cocoa Beach and my DH's office was right across from the beach. He used to watch the shuttle go up from his office. You won't be far away at all. We've also watched one go up from Daytona.

You can definately see it from the beach. We watched a night launch a few years ago from our hotel balcony at Cocoa Beach and saw it with no problems.

You can see the launch from Disneyworld, too. Cocoa Beach is perfect for viewing. Where are you staying when you are at Cocoa Beach? We are going to be there in June and can't decide where to stay.

Go up to Titusville and watch from the river side of the Holiday Inn. It is right across the river from the launch pads. They won't give you a hard time...just park in the lot and walk around behind the building. Last time, there were hundreds of people lining the fence.

I just heard on the news that the launch has now been postponed until July.
