Has anybody been on the See and Sea excursion on St Maartin on the 7 day eastern cruise? If so, was it worth doing it and what did you think of it? How would the semi-submarine be for people who do not like small spaces? Any other additional info. would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,

We went on this one in Nov 2002 and I think we all agreed that it wasn't worth the money. The bus ride to get there is longer than the actual boat ride. I'm one of those people with pretty bad motion sickness and thought I could handle it with the dramamine but after about five minutes my DD and I had to go back up. We found several other people who couldn't deal with it either. It was very claustrophobic downstairs and truthfully, there were very little fish to see. If there wasn't a diver with food I don't think we would have seen the few we did. My DH and I had more fun shopping in town and the kids were happy to get back on the boat. Hope this helps. I hate to see anyone waste their money.:wave2:

I would agree with the other post. The semi-submarine really bothered my wife, and we will definitely not do it again. Most of the people who went on the excursion with us were also very disappointed. We enjoyed the bus tour of the island, but there is a much cheaper option for that.

We did the excursion last April and loved it. My kids were 2 and 4 at the time and had a blast on the semi-submarine. My dd 2 even swore she saw Ariel. I would reccomend it. It gives you a taste of both the island and the sea. Just my opinon.

I have to agree with the people who said it wasn't worth it. We did it on our Jan 24th cruise, they kept us waiting on the boat (which was tied to the dock and rocking quite a bit) until another bus came and then we only took 4 additional people. My 5 year old DD was scared from the way the boat was rocking so DH took her on shore and she had a wonderful time playing in the sand. This left dd11 and myself. It is very claustrophobic under the boat, and it rocks a lot!!!!! There really wasn't much to see and I had to call it quits early and go back upstairs. My dh was listening to and watching everyone get off, and he said everyone seemed to be saying it wasn't worth the money and looked pretty green from the trip. Thank goodness it didn't interfere with my afternoon of shopping.

I don't know what kind of excursion you are looking for, but on our previous trip we went to the butterfly farm and found it to be fun, and educational.

Sorry to differ with the majority here, but Mom (74), Michael (8) and I went on this in May and loved it. The sea was calm, the sea life abundant and the land tour was very good, interesting and relaxing.

We did find that the lack of bathroom from one Capitol to the other wasn't convenient (but there was a head on the sub!)

We did it back in May of '01 and enjoyed it. We thought it was a great way to see the island an we really enjoyed the "sea" part. Got some great pictures of the fish. Since we were with my in-laws and they aren't into snorkeling at all it was worth it for us.

We did it on our last cruise, and it was interesting, but nothing I would recommend. The PA speaker on the bus was broken, so we heard very little of the narration of the driver. You drive through some very poor areas of St. Maartin, which was kinda depressing.

Once we got to the glass bottom boat / semi sub, it was interesting. We saw fish, I spotted a stingray buried in the sand.

We came back up and rode the boat back. Then, back to the bus, where we got to stop on a scenic overlook (very rushed), and then back to the port.

Overall, it was very rushed, and not that educational.

Seems like it's the "luck of the draw" for tour guides/bus drivers!!

So glad we had an enjoyable time or I'd have never heard the end of it from either Mom or Michael!!!!
