I have been looking to buy some pins through Ebay. I see a lot of lots with mention of Sedesma Pins, but am really not sure about those. My father says he overheard someone in the know at Disneyland say not to get Sedesma pins because they are cheap Spanish pins that have less luster. How do they compare with the real Disney? And are they tradeable? I saw a realy old Dis thread when I googled Sedesma by someone who said she was unable to trade them. Thanks for any advise!

Last time I was there....way too many sedesma pins on CM lanyards.

They are plastic or some kind of soft metal and don't look very nice...plus the pin part breaks off too easily.

I know some people like them...they are stamped "Disney" on the back so they are "official"...I just don't like them and am disappointed to see so many on CM lanyards....it seems like people buy them in bulk from e-bay and then trade for more expensive pins...just takes the joy out of it for me....and I have been trading since 2001!

So....I have a mission...I am putting nice CM pins back on lanyards this trip!

Disney gets plenty of money through licensing from all these various manufacturers. If corporate doesn't like Sedesma pins being traded in the US parks, then they should *do* something about it. Until then, at least, Sedesmas are "trading-legal" at WDW with the CMs.
That being said, *however*, what some posters have said is correct. People buy these pins in big lots from EBay or off the Internet and then go to WDW expecting to trade. If a CM already has the pin you are offering, they can refuse the trade. You run that risk if all your traders are Sedesmas or the WDW-2000 dancers or the Incredibles.
Personally I think some of the Sedesmas are quite nice, but I would not rely on them to be my only traders. Do some research & lurk over on EBay...sometimes you can pick up mixed lots at inexpensive/per-pin prices. Often I've picked up LE pins in them.

Happy pinning,
agnes!

The following is the official WDW policy on Sedesma (and ProPins)

Do we accept pins from Sedesma and ProPin from Germany?
Date: 10/21/2004

While trading at the Walt Disney World® Resort, you may be presented with a Disney character pin manufactured by "Sedesma" and "ProPin from Germany." These pins are typically made from a thinner metal and have a "©Disney" / manufacturer's name on the backstamp.

Currently, both of these styles of pins are accepted for trade at the Walt Disney World® Resort. Normal trading guidelines apply for these pins - Guests may trade a maximum of two (2) pins per each Cast Member. The pins must have a "©Disney" on the backstamp.

Our number one priority is excellent Guest Service. If a Guest offers a "Sedesma" or "ProPin from Germany" pin in trade, please kindly accept it. That Guest may be brand new to Disney Pin Trading and we want them to have a positive trading experience.
