Have just dropped DD and her BF off at Manchester for the VS075 flight and the queues for security (going through to airside) were horrendous!! They were queued right through the terminal right back to the Raddisson!!
I couldn't believe it. Have never ever seen Manchester that busy!

Surely, they need to get more staff, or at least make better provisions for passengers with all this increased security!

Tracy

ps. They also went to sign up for the IRIS recognition, but it was closed.... the sign on the door said.... "unfortunatley, this facility is closed, due to staff being needed elsewhere in the airport"
.....I wonder where!!!

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

No, I have never seen it so busy. We fly from there 5 or 6 times a year never taken more than 30 mins from bag drop to sitting in departure lounge. Used to take longer with traditional checkin in. I wonder what the problem is?
Just checked departures most seem to be going on time this morning.

Hi Wayneg,
The line moved pretty quickly, and fortunately, they did have nearly 2 hours when they started to queue. But, I guess that isn't the point. They certainly shouldn't have to queue right through the airport for nearly 40 minutes just to get through security! It makes on line booking etc a bit of a joke, if we still have to allow an extra hour just to get through security!!
I hope they are a bit better equipped for our trip in December! LOL!
Having to queue for 45 mins, isn't my idea of fun! It eats into my retail therapy time!!

There was rather a large queue when we went in Aug but it moved quite quickly. We were actually trying to find a seat before going through but the seating had dissappeared and replaced with a bigger area to queue in.

we flew from Manchester last December, terminal 1 and the queue for the security also was as long as the terminal building. Luckily I didn't have to wait in that queue but it looked like it would take at least an hour to get through

Were you able to drop them off at the terminal or did you have to drop them further away? Sure i heard someone talking about people having to be dropped off away from the terminal after the terrorist probs recently.

Running out of things to plan now :rotfl: Happy to be planning our airport drop off though;)

they have a dop off zone which is not as far as the car parks they were using.for pickup they use the short stay carpark

The drop-off zone is in the an old surface car park at the far end of the terminal, no good if the weathers cold and wet as you pull your cases to the terminal in your best new shorts and tee-shirt :scared1: .

Then there's a massive queue to catch the first lift upto the correct level for departures.

Its quicker to cross to the terminal and use the lifts/escalators inside.

Hi

I flew out this morning on virgin 75 and the airport was empty.

Strolled up to bag check in with nobody in front of me.

Went thru to departure lounge where there was a small queue - took about 8 mins to get thru to departure lounge - plane was half empty.

Am anow sat in Best Western Lakeside - about to nip out to get a bite to eat - then off to Disney tomorrow.

It was raining really heavy when we arrived - but its about 28 degrees so very hot.

Dave

My mother (83 bless her!) flew out yesterday from manchester airport - she won`t let me take - she catches the train - hope she got through OK

This as always been our experience at Manchester, always gone straight thru, unlike Gatwick that was a nightmare 2 hours to check in and security.

Not been to Lakeside for a while, stayed there (changed ownership a few times) about 5 times, good value place.

Hi

Had a bit of a problem with the room to begin with.

Was placed in block 10 - no wireless, no water - mold on walls........

But reception sorted all out - now in Lake view room - and its brilliant
- water and everything!

I have woke u too early but will go for a stroll then off to Disney shorly

Dave

Glad you got a good room now, I thought they had revamped all the rooms, maybe some still have to be done? Last time we stayed they had no room available with wireless, had to go to Lobby every day to connect. Enjoy your stay.:goodvibes

HI

They advertise wireless in all rooms i think...........but no worries all sorted now.

Its raining horrendously heavy and the news channels say its in for the day !

May change my plans from Disney and have a mooch around Premium Outlets instead - that is the one near Dolly Parton thing isnt it?

Hi Dave, weather does not sound great.
Yes Premium Outlets nears Dixie Stampede, Prime outlet re-opened last month top of Int Drive.

Lakeside is still not wireless thoughout, thats the main reason we changed to staying at Courtyard or Fairfield Inn by Marriot.

From their website:-
Free Internet Access, DSL modems located in select rooms, wireless internet in other room and Lobby and restaurants
