Not a Disney question, but, I know someone here knows the answer. I have been on hold all morning trying to find this out -

My sister is flying tomorrow from Bradley to Nashville on Southwest. Her ride to the airport had to cancel, so, now i will be bringing her, but, I will have my 2.5 DS with me, so, I am hoping I can drop her off at curbside check in and just head back home.

So my question is, since she is only 14, she has no ID - how does she clear security?

TIA

this should answer your questions.

I would call SWA just to double check, but it has been my experience, that under 18, no photo id is needed. I always bring along DS's birth certificate and ss card, but we have not had any problems.

If you have a cell phone, give her the number and keep the phone nearby for a couple of hours after you drop her off, or, failing that, make sure that she has enough cash and a house key, and understands how to get back home if the flight gets cancelled.

When dealing with dropping off passengers who do not usually arrange their own ground transport (kids, the elderly, etc.), remember that flights in winter are more frequently subject to weather delays and cancellations. You always need to have a backup plan in place in case the flight does not depart as scheduled.

I would never leave my dd under 18 alone at an airport....to many crazy's in this world....

How do your parents feel about her being dropped at the airport alone for 2 hrs...?

I would park the car in short term parking, check her in at the counter and then go sit at the gate with her until she gets on the plane......and bring my 2.5yr old with me.....

good point, but, who will sit with her on the return flight?

Actually this is not the first time for her alone, but it is the first time I am dropping her off for a solo flight, my Mother ALWAYS drops her off when she comes to see me but that is on the Nashville end and I dont know how it works- usually I wait with her, but, DS is sick, so I really dont want to make him sit in the car for 3 hours, and then the airport for 2 more...

I spoke with the TSA and they said that she just tells everyone she is 14. No ID of any kind is necessary.

She has her own cel phone, and she is flying to my Mother, so, there is no return trip and her pick up on the other end has been arranged.

Thanks for the answers.
