I haven't flown in several years and will be traveling Southwest next week. I have a ticketless confirmation and want to be clear on what they refer to as a security document. (I know the reason for it, just not the process to get one)

I'm not checking luggage so I planned to get my boarding pass at the gate. Exactly what is the security document they refer to on their website and can I actually print it from the website?

Thanks!

Most airports now require you to have a boarding pass before you enter security. You would need to go to the ticket counter and receive it or check in online and print one. You can't get to the gate without a boarding pass.

We've never tried it, but SWA has a form available thru their website (within 24 hours of your flight) that permits you to get thru security, when used in conjunction with your picture ID. I've printed out the forms but have always checked in at the ticket counter even when not checking luggage. For ticketless travelers, they also have kiosks for getting boarding passes--again, we havent used those yet.:smooth:

Get your boarding pass at the kiosk, no waiting that way and then you won't need to worry about the security document.

However, if you don't want to use the kiosk, you can print the security document out at home. The instructions are on the web site. http://www.southwestair.com/travel_center/retrieveSecDoc.html

How can you manage a trip without checked luggage? They are pretty strict on size, btw.
