Security checks at the resorts

What is the purpose of these supposed "security checks"?

The security guard comes out of the security shack and asks for your driver's license. They look at it for about 2 seconds and then give it back and allow you to proceed.

Has anyone ever been stopped from entering? What are they looking for? Fugitives of justice? Terrorists?

It makes me nervous sometimes, thinking I might not pass the test and be turned away.

When I have been asked for my ID, they have verified it against the "checking in Today" list. Once I checked in, I had the paper for the dashboard, so I was always waved through the next time. Now if you are not staying on property and maybe are going for dinner, I don't know what purpose it would serve, except to make the general public "feel" safer.

I always wonder why the peanut butter jar is sealed "for my protection"............Is there some awful monster that is trapped with in, but by sealing the jar, he is no longer a threat?

Whatever would make you ask a question like that?

Personally I think they have a list of Disers in there. As soon as one of us checks in they put out the warning that a true Disney fanatic is in the area and all CMs should take note. :teeth:

Most of the time's I've encountered a security check-we've been asked if we were checking in that day. It looked like he was looking over a list w/my boyfriends license in hand. I guess maybe it's so people don't use resort parking and hop on the busses? Dunno?

We parked at Boardwalk this past weekend just to eat lunch, so of course my name wasn't on the list. He did ask for my DL and he checked to make sure the photo matched me.
