So I purchased a few items for my son's surprise survival kit for our trip to Disneyland. One of the items I purchased was the Cars pin starter set w/ lanyard and I wanted to put it in the kit, the only thing is will security let it through? If I need to I can put it in my checked luggage, but thought it would be fun for him to get it on the plane so I can explain the whole pin trading thing and he can put his mystery Mickey pins on the lanyard as well.

We've never had a problem with pins and lanyards on our flights. DW is an avid trader and will be trading at the Disney store at MCO right up until we have to go through security. The regulations on sharps have a very specific length, and the pins are not that long.

I'm pretty sure it will be ok, the pins are only little stubby ones like people might have on their lapels.
I see lots of backpacks covered in badges so pins must be ok surely??

Thanks :) Good to know that can be included in his bag. Lol I want time to fly by so we can go.

We pack our pins in our carry on bag all the time. Theres no way that DS would risk the luggage getting lost with his pins in it! He cares more abut the pins then his underwear! :)

My son loves collecting things so I'm sure these will become very important to him for the trip so I am relieved he can have them on the plane and we can talk about pin trading and how he can buy more at the parks.

I had 1 pin that I just remembered was in my purse for my flight.. and they didn't even mention it.. although my husband did forget a bottle of water in his and he got pulled over for it.. lol. apparently juice boxes of any size are allowed if you have kids.. which I find strange.. I'd much rather give my kids water than juice!

This is his first flight so I have never done the whole security thing with him, so would never have known about the juice boxes. I agree though, I would rather have him drink water and he does choose water over anything else.
