Security asking minor their name....

Our upcoming trip to Disney is the first time for my 5 year old. I've read a lot on here security at the airport asks kids their name. Well my son is shy and probably won't answer them, is that going to be an issue?

My daughter is Autistic and doesn't always answer without prodding, it has never been a problem. I just prompt her to tell the man/lady her name, and if she doesn't I explain to the security.

I've had security just call out the kids names and then we point them out. Shouldn't be an issue.

or us a bigger problem was child touch side of scanner as set off scanner. thank goodness person behind saw and said something or grandson would have had to have patdown. that was bigger than not answering questions.

We have never had a problem, and my five year old typically hides behind my leg when addressed by security or looks at me and says "you tell him!"

I've been travelling with my triplets since they are 1yo and never had a problem. I have a very outgoing who will tell the world our entire life while I have 2 shy ones. if the outgoing is asked first she will answer for everyone LOL If they ask the others, they look down and don't answer. they have often flipped the question to who's Katrina? or where's Katrina and that usually get them going. If not, they simply ask us.

Sometimes they ask my daughter her name or her 'age'. She is shy too and seems to respond to the age question easier than the name question.

Yeah. Don't worry about it too much. Some ask the child their name, some ask "Who is suchandsuch?", some don't ask at all. YMMV

We've travelled a bunch with DS 4.5. Virtually every time they've asked his name, and virtually every time he's hid behind my legs or insisted on being picked up. Never once has the TSA agent gotten an intelligible answer out of him. It's never been a problem.

If it doesn't matter, and it shouldn't, did you wonder why they bother to ask?

Since they don't ask for ID for kids, I think they are looking for reactions to see if someone is lying about the name on the ticket. Like if the ticket says John and the kid says his name is Will. Or if they ask "who's John and the kid says "not me!". Same as Disney cm's who ask small kids their age at the turnstiles to see if they will lie about being under 3.

why dont you make a game of it called Airline Secuirty, this is what is going to happen, we are going to hand the person in the uniform the tickets, they will ask your name...what are you going to say? Then we go through and put our stuff on the conveyor belt, than we walk through the scanner.

I can understand that Disney cares whether a kid gets in free. It's a revenue protection thing. But why would Airport Security Screeners care whether a kid's name is Will or John? The kid gets the screening before passing through. Right?

I just came thru security at PHL today. They were asking everyone their name, not just minors.
