Secret Verandah

I am so excited. We just booked the Alaska cruise in June 2014 and got one of the secret verandah rooms. We initially booked a 5B but moved to this cabin and it saved us $800. Thank you PP's for the pictures. It helped make the switch a no-brainer.

The Deck 6 cabins have even less of an obstruction then the Deck 7 (but not even enough to make a difference). if you are able to get any of the four SV cabins, consider yourself lucky.

Thank you to the cruisers who once complained about this being a Cat 5 (silly) and made it one of the best deals for verandah cabins!!

We're in 7620 for our Alaska cruise and have the 11b cabin across the hall too

Thank you all for this great info.

Going to try to get one for our Alaska cruise this year.
It will save us $600.

What does a secret cabin mean? Are they on the Magic?

If you read the thread from the beginning it explains how these 4 cabins were once Cat 5's and Cat 6's but people complanined and they were reclassified as Cat 7 Navigator Verandas. The name is something Disers gave them as you have to know the room numbers to know they are really full open verandas with a slight obstruction and not really navigator verandas.

Thanks to these boards and the postings regarding the "secret verandah" rooms. We booked room 6134 on the Magic - we sail next week. Saved us around $400 plus our daughter was free thanks to the kids sail free promo!! Can't wait til we sail!

No luck....

They are all sold out. :sad1:

Thought I was going to make hubby proud by saving a few bucks.

Keep watching... the rooms seem to move around a lot. We changed our room 3 or 4 times before we sailed. You might get lucky...

I switched our 11A for the secret verandah room 7620 today for the Magic 9 night Med Venice cruise(7/5/14). I was shocked it was still available.

Congrats! Sometimes you get lucky, but often you have to book on opening day to get them! I think the 'obstruction' actually blocks a litte wind.

The one thing I am worried is that the Magic is going into dry dock and Disney decides not to have split beds. I was also lucky to switch our 7 night Med Barcelona cruise for August 2013 from an 11A to the secret porthole room (10a). I was pretty excited for that too!

Other than the Secret porthole rooms, I think the secret verandah rooms on the Wonder and Magic are the BEST bang for your buck. We had 7120 and thought it was a fabulous room! The location was fantastic, the obstruction is hardly an issue to your views, but brought welcome shade to the corner and (we noticed) less cigarette smoke into the verandah. It was a savings of more than $300 over a full verandah and, honestly for us, it WAS a full verandah ;)
