Anyone with any info on how early the SPRs book up? I'm trying through Expedia and I can't seem to find any even for late May 2004. Does Expedia even offer them I'm wondering?

expedia will only show a limited offering of what is available online. I suggest calling DCL directly to see if any are available.:D

Im no expert but I would have to say they book up pretty fast. I dont think they are much of a secret anymore. ;)
We booked one in 2/01 for 7/02, so that was pretty early. And as soon as the dates are released we plan to try to book at least one for July of 2005. :D

Travelocity will show all available cabins.

Expedia does show the SPRs if those rooms are available. I found one on Expedia for a December 2003 sailing just last week and called DCL to book it (someone must have cancelled or something). Maybe all the SPRs are taken for May 2004. Also, which cruise are you looking for? The SPRs on the 7-night cruises seem to book faster than 3 or 4-night cruises.

Travelocity will show all available cabins.

Not to argue with you, but I have yet to see a booking engine that shows ALL available rooms. All that I have seen have only shown a selection of rooms to choose from, not the entire inventory of rooms. When I checked for room availability on Travelocity last fall they only had a "selection" of rooms also. Have they since changed?

We booked our SPR a year in advance! Of course, now we would probably never get one.

I too have to say that Travelocity only shows a selection of the rooms available. At least it looks that way to me.

To get a SPR, get in touch with a good TA, like DU. If there is any chance that one is available, or may become available, then a good TA will be able to get it for you. You can be put on 'waitlist' for the particular room(s) you want. Sometimes that does work!

Good luck getting a SPR! :D

I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to book a secret porthole room in January for our November sailing. It was kind of bizzare because the agent insisted that these rooms are so popular that they book up far in advance - I had to insist that he check on it and low and behold it was available! I think he was more shocked than I. So in my case about 10 months in advance and it was available. I think it depends sometimes on what time of year of you are traveling. I hope you are able to snag one!

A Secret Porthole room is a stateroom that is priced as an inside cabin, but actually has a porthole window like an outside stateroom. However, the view is obstructed a little. They are cat. 10 and are located on deck 5.

Thanks for all your replies. I think maybe I'll call DCL directly and see what is available. I'm actually looking for getting the 2 SPR's that are adjoining. (I'm not asking for TOO much now, am I? LOL!)

I just checked and there are SPRs available on the 3 and 4-night cruises in late May 2004, mostly 5020 and 5520, no adjoining rooms. There's one cabin (5020) on the May 22 7-night cruise. Hope that helps a little.

AuntieBon,

The SPR's are the cat.10s that are located on deck 5.

Check Castawayclub.com for photos... And much more great information on DCL!!!

I booked a SPH this month for a trip in Feb.
I called with a list of the 3 rooms that I wanted to stay in(any of the 3) and was able to get 5020.

I just booked SPR 5520 this morning for May 22, 2004. I had originally booked a category 9 and never even thought about checking for a SPR. Yesterday when I was reading my new PassPorter I realized that I hadn't even asked about these rooms when I booked last week. I called my agent this morning and he called me back within a few minutes that he had changed my room to 5520 and credited my account for $200(for the category change).

Auntie Bon, if you want details and photos, visit my website.
We like to get the SPRs and booked almost 2 years in advance sometimes...right now, we have ressies for 12 cruises, running through the November of 2004.
