Secret Portal Room - Magic 5022

Oh, I'm curious to know, so is this room marked as a 'no porthole room', but actually has one but they say no because it's a poor view? That would definitely be a bonus if you were expecting no porthole!

It looks like from the deck plan it would be oceanview, not sure how they have it categorized though.

How did you feel about being so far forward? For our next Wonder cruise we have an oceanview on deck 6 forward (but more like mid-forward) but 6006 is available; that is a deluxe inside with an obstructed view. The price has me excited as it's a few hundred less than my current room but I'm not sure I'll like being SO far forward re:motion.

The secret porthole rooms are categorized as inside rooms (they are 10A rooms). The "secret" is that you get an obstructed porthole for the price of an inside room. We have 2 connecting booked for 2018 and were super excited to get them!

I have been in 5022 on the Wonder and 6011 on the Magic, both cruises did see some substantial waves, but I found the room not to be uncomfortable. There is more motion than in a more midship location, but never too bad. But this is very personal. For someone's who has motion issues on a standard cruise with no waves I would not recommend the rooms. I have motion sickness issues in a car, but for some reason the movement of the ship rarely bothers me. I also prefer the movement in the front as it is more up and down, further back you get more sideways rolling to I find and that seems to bother me more.

I loved the location, super close to the elevator and kids clubs. Those looonnnngggg corridors on the 6 & 7 floor looked to go on forever. I absolutely loved being so close to all the action. I couldn't really tell if it was more or less motion than in other parts of the ship. Our stateroom hostess was absolutely amazing too. I cant wait to go back!

We have stayed in 5022 on the Magic, we liked the location, but did not like that it was an adjoining room - we had very noisy neighbors!

We are staying in 6506 (starboard version of 6006) on the Wonder next August. It was $500 less than the room next door and $2500 less than the veranda that we had originally booked. These rooms look like they have far less obstruction in the window than the secret portals on deck 5. On CC deck plans, they are still listed as a 9A deluxe oceanview.

As far as motion goes, I think if the sea is rough, the whole ship is going to feel it. It may be a bit worse far forward or aft, but not by much. We did a back to back on the Dream in room 7006 which is in the front corner of the ship. The first night when we were crossing the Gulf Stream, it was one of the rockiest nights we have ever had on a cruise! The second time we crossed, the sea was so calm you wouldn't know we were on a ship!

Sorry to hijack the post! I just switched us from 6024 to 6006 and saved us $500! Eek, no risk no reward right? :rotfl2:

Can I ask which cabin does this connect to? I keep finding conflicting information online :( Does 5022 connect with 5020 or 5024? Thanks in advance!

We were on the magic 5520, there is a crew door right outside and at night the door slamming was an issue. But did love the room, might try 5020 on the wonder for an Alaska 2019 cruise.

we had the same issue with crew door. We were on an EBTA and had noise from rehearsals in the Walt Disney theatre too. We stayed in the room on a 5 night Wonder cruise and did not find it as noisy, I like the location though.

We shot a video of the room if any one wants to see the room and the obstruction of the port hole
