secret path at AK

Sorry, I don't follow
I was referring ot the one that is right before you cross into Africa. It leads you to the waterfall that flows down from the ToL and also has several animals including the parrots from the Poly.

Sorry, now I'm really confused! And I love to wander on the paths at AK. Now, someone please tell me slowly and carefully (remember, you're dealing with a "senior" mind) how to find a secret path. If I'm at Africa, headed over the path to Asia (near Dawa Bar is where I think I go), is the path going to be on the left or right? Is it before or after I get to FLight of WOnder?

Just before you cross the bridge it is on the right (where the door is that says Africa).

Is this one a paved path & does the one you're talking about lead to where ITTBAB lets out, past a waterfall and some live animals?
Thanks

WOW! I had no idea my thread would start such a flurry of conversation confusion?!). :confused3

I think my DH and I will be spending our entire day at AK looking for the path! :confused3

Please keep the posts coming! If you don't want to tell the actual location, clues are good too!

Thanks all for your posts!

That is the one I was referring to.

Gotcha. I was talking about the one that is covered only in mulch and is behind the smoking section between Africa and Asia. I thought the original post was referring to this 'sort of off-limits' path.
Thanks.

Actually, they are not "right next to each other." The distance from the AKL entrance to the AK entrance is a little more than 1 mile as the crow flies, and along the roads it's more like 1-1/2 to 2 miles. The terrain between the two is mostly wild wooded area, full of swamps and streams.

The savanahs of AK and AKL are not linked in any way - they are completely seperate animal enclosures, and the one at Kilamanjaro Safari is on the north side of AK, while AKL and it's smaller savanah are to the southwest of the park - nearly 1-1/2 miles away from each other.

Thanks for the info, WillCAD. Sorry to be slightly off topic!
Call me clueless, but, it kind of looks do-able to me, to make some sort of walkway between AK and the AKL. For us adventurous, good walkers who stay at the AKL, I think it would be cool! :cool1:

Well, it's certainly not impossible, I just think it would be long, difficult, expensive, and more than a little dangerous to have a 1-mile walkway through the Florida jungle/swampland.

It would be a long walk, longer than the one from Epcot to MGM, and would be unattended by CMs - what if someone were hurt along the way and needed help? Not to mention gators!

So yes, it certainly could be done. Building a 1-mile sidewalk is no big deal for WDW. But once it's built it would be a tremendous liability issue for them that they would probably never take on. Besides, what would the advantage be for Disney? How many Guests would take the walkway instead of the bus?

I can see it all now, I'd be packing for a swamp trek, with a huge canteen, flashlights, first aid kit, a change of clothes, hiring Steve Erwin or Crocodile Dundee as an escort through the darkest jungles of Central Florida! :scared:

We went through some walking trail where circle of life tree is located, we found that by accident. Maybe that might be it?

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Great sense of humor and creative too....I often wish I could be funny. :goodvibes

So everyone's agreeing there are 2 trails in this thread? One that is overgrown and only mulch that you get to from a smoking section at Tree of Life and one that is more of an acceptable trail that passes a waterfall as you go to Asia?

I'm rather confuzzled. (confused and puzzled all at the same time) Are there really two trails?

I only know about one Secret Trail. It is on the way from Afica to Asia, or Asia to Africa. If you are going from Africa to Asia it is on the left right next to the smoking section. If you are coming from Asia too Africa it is on the right at the smoking area. It is not a designated trail. It has mulch to walk on and there is a small stream with a couple of stones you can walk on to get over the stream. It is not long and comes out on the walkway between the two countries near Africa. There are alot of trails going to the Tree of Life, but they have walkways to follow. :Pinkbounc

The one between Asia and Africa by the smoking section is the one I think I was originally posting about. I've picked it up on another board but many are indicating it is closed, while others say it looks closed but the entrances/exits are just overgrown.

When is the last time anyone has walked on this Asia/Africa mulch trail with the stream and stones? **edited** Never mind. I think peeplemovr answered this question for me on page one! **

Thanks all for helping me out on this one! :sunny:

this is funny.
over 2000 people read this thread,, but only 3 have asked me for a copy of the map with the location. :teeth:

(yes I really do have a map,, someone posted it 4 years ago.)

thats ok, 2000 emails would have been a lot. :rotfl2:
