Where is the secret exit at Magic Kingdom that you can use to beat the crowds when leaving after the fireworks?

Don't know of a secret exit. They will open up the backstage area from the Plaza restaurant behind the shops on Main Street to beside Tonys restaurant but you leave out of the same gates that you came in.

Some people refer to the shops as the secret exit. You can cut through the shops instead of walking down Main Street.

That backstage route (seen from two different angles below)
is only open when MK management deems it to be needed.
Guests can't choose the route on their own unless it happens to be open.

I read that they are going to make that backstage path more on stage looking as part of the hub reconstruction.

That's the info I'd heard as well.

Don't know when (if) it will be completed, of course.

On one trip I could swear we went through a backstage area coming in to the park, and ended up in tomorrowland. We came in through the main gate. Then I think we may have gone backstage over by Tony's. We did not exit near The Plaza, we exited somewhere over by Space Mountain. It was a longer walk than the one between Tony's and The Plaza. I'm going on memory here, and I can't remember exactly when this was. If I remember right they had a path in tape on the ground, and there were CM's stationed along the path to make sure people went where they were supposed to.

It's possible, I'm sure such a route exists. That one is not the one more commonly used and cited on Robo's map. I assume it depends on where management wants to route people for crowd flow.

Were you ever at the MK on the days they tape the Christmas Day Parade???

I wondered that as well, but you would think the usual backstage route would be enough to maneuver around the parade and Hub shenanigans.

Nope. I honestly can't remember which trip it was. We have been a couple of times at Christmas/New Years. I suspect it might have been on one of those trips because the park was just super packed, but I'm not sure. I work for the school system, so we only go over the summer, or Christmas. I think the parade is taped the just after Thanksgiving, so we would not be there then.

I wish I had taken pics. I can't remember if anybody told us not to take pics, or if I was just so surprised we went that way that it didn't occur to me.

It's a bit hazy, but I know we walked though.around a parking lot. I think there were some trailers, the type some places use for office, kind of like portable at schools. Those were off on the far side. I do remember a few of the parking spaces closest to where you went in to the park near tomorrow land had reserved signs that were funny. I don't remember exactly what they said, but I think they involved characters.

The East by-pass opens with that route (coming out by Stitch) most of the time for the 3rd & 4th of July (night) and for the New Years Eve events, usually after about 7pm, normally not for the Christmas Parade taping. There have been a couple of other times I have seen it open the last couple of years but they have been VERY special events.

They sometimes use the West bypass as well--you walk by all the parked Main Street vehicles and exit out the parade gate in Town Square. We were routed that way to get out of a very crowded Hub during last year's 24-hour event.

Used during the 3rd & 4th of July and for New Years Eve. I wasn't working the 24 hr. this year but don't remember using it the year before. Could be though as they all run together after awhile.

I have that one mapped too. It is just less discussed.

OK, here's a look at that one, such as it is…
