We switched decks from 5 to 7 and I remember reading somewhere that there is a secret deck or veranda on 7. Is that true? Where is it and is there a "secret" enrtrance?

Just follow deck 7 all the way aft and and at the very end there will be a door....it is not really marked, but I believe there is a small window in the door, I could mistaken....and you just go out and enjoy a secluded deck. It has a dozen or so lounge chairs and is not used very much. It is open to anyone, not just deck 7 residents, but not many people know about it.

They now lock it at night to keep people from doing un-disney things out there!!!

Cool.....a nice, quiet spot for a nap. Or reading a book in the sun with a big frozen drink.........without getting splashed!!!! I didnt see it on any of the deck plans, so I was beginning to wonder if I was just wishing for a quiet spot.

Does anyone know when it is unlocked in the morning? I am an early riser and my DH is not. It sounds like a nice place to drink coffee and first thing in the AM ( we will not have a veranda)

On our cruise they seemed to be a bit lazy about unlocking it. It was usually unlocked by 7 or 8AM, possibly earlier, but one day it wasn't unlocked until afternoon.

Lodgelady,

I'm not sure how you define "early" but much of the deck area is pretty deserted early in the morning. DH regularly ran up for coffee and brought it down to the room around 7 am and rarely saw anyone.

Now I am getting pushy......How about little tables? I know there are lounge chairs- But, now my wheels are turning. How nice would it be to grab some tea and pastries and sit out there and have a quiet breakfast. We don't have a veranda either, just 2 standard cabins so it would be cool to have a veranda to pretend is ours(kinda);) One of our cabin #'s is7631(mother in law-handicap cabin) and ours is 7629. Is that right near the secret veranda entrance?

Early on vacation would probably be 7:30- I will be up before that, but I will spend some time getting presentable before venturing up for coffee. Too bad there are no little brewers in the rooms as I am usually drinking coffee before my eyes are open!
mariamard- my thoughts exactly!
:D

Just order room service coffee late the night before. It comes in carafs (sp) that keep the coffee hot all night. You will have your coffee waiting for you when you get up!! Or, you can order that morning, as well.

I can't remember ever seeing little tables out there...I had my 2 year old out there all the time on that "secret" deck, its a great place to let the little ones run wild without bothering people or worrying about them bumping into people on the deck since there is usually no one ever on the "secret" deck. We had the handicap room right next door and I was glad that the door to that deck was not open all the time since when we sat out on our verandah it would be like sitting with the other people on the secret deck. One morning I went to the rail of our verandah and a couple was standing on the deck right by our room and I felt like I should pass them the coffee they were so close to us!

Great tip about the carafs of coffee mmouse37!
'Course from what I read on the other thread about the coffee onboard, I may need to bring caffine pills to actually wake me up!:p

I can't vouch for any coffee onboard since I am not a coffee drinker...tea only for me.....but I do love Kaluha and coffee ice cream...

We were in 7631 on our last cruise. Don't know why because neither of us are handicapped but we loved the room and loved the location. You are five steps from the "secret verandah". I think we had company out there maybe once and that was just a gentleman exploring the ship. The room is pretty spacious. I'm scared I'll be disappointed when we go again and I have a "regular" room.

I just have one word or warning about the secret deck - it can get really hot so wear shoes. When we were docked at Castaway Cay last May I wanted to run out and take a picture from the "secret" deck since our room was facing the dock. The wood deck was HOT. Ran back to the room for shoes. :D

COOL! I DIDNT KNOW THAT IT WOULD BE THAT CLOSE TO OUR 2 CABINS!! IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS LIKE THIS THAT IS GETTING US REALLY EXCITED.THANKS AGAIN!
