My Mom called today telling me her secondary insurance just went up to $300 per month. I hoped my Budget Buddys could give me a few names of companies that might be a lower primium?

She's 94. That's about what I pay for my mom. Everything is covered whether it's in hospital or out, therapy or whatever. I don't have to file any forms. It's definitely worth it.

Poor thing.. How is she going to manage? Have you tried calling all the HMO's in your area that offer the secondary insurance for seniors?

I hope you can find something lower for her..

Contact your local senior center or senior services helpline. They should be able to give assistance with insurance help in your area. I am a care manager for senior services in the Pittsburgh, PA area and there are several options for seniors and health care but some are income based.

Is this her "Medi-gap" insurance or her "Med-D" insurance? It seems pretty high to me, either way. I really think you are going to have to just research options as insurance plans and premiums vary so much from area to area.
