Second thoughts on WCC??

We are booked for the 2/27 - 3/5 at the Poly. When I made all of our ADRs I went for places near MK just for ease because we have 2 SN children we are traveling with (although both do fantastic at restaurants... I just didn't want to "waste" a lot of time traveling for food kwim). Well now I am having second thoughts about going there... both because of several negative reviews and because of the noise level (worried it might freak out my 4.5 year old with autism).

Here's what we have booked... dinners at Ohana, Kona, WCC, Le Cellier, and Mama Melrose (for Fantasmic pkg), and breakfasts at Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare.

Should we ditch WCC?? And if so any other suggestions for what might be a good sub?? We had an early ADR... 5pm. We're tentitively planning on doing DTD in the morning and lunch at Wolfgang Pucks Express, perhaps some afternoon swimming, dinner at WCC, and then MK in the evening for Specto and Wishes. What else might fit into that plan?? Any thoughts?!?!?! :earsboy:

I found WCC okay. We were seated near a window, away from much of the noise.

Everyone on here says how great the milkshakes are-I found them to be the worst I think I have ever had. Tasted like soft serve ice cream with flavoring mixed in.

The food was good. I found our server just wanted to up the bill as much as possible so he would get a bigger tip (I was on the DDP). He said I got two desserts off the menu and it was just my niece (almost 6) and myself. He even suggested I order the fruit plate (serving for 2) as my niece is lactose intollerant. He then packaged it to go and put the yogurt in with it without any kind of cover. I asked if they could sub the mashed potatoes in the skillet for some french fries (I did not ask for seconds) and he said sure. They were then added to the bill as a side.

it's fun and good. the food has been great except last time the ribs were too fatty to eat but the first time they were good. I would go there b/c the resort is beautiful and the food is good, so is the atmosphere. I suggest a late lunch like 2pm, so it's not that loud. Chef Mickey's however is very loud, so is 1900 Park Fare... i suggest earliest time possible, like 7:30am at Chef Mickey's so you dont have it jammed pack yet. I would also let the hostess know that you would like an out of the way table, to help escape the noise and parade routes going by your table.

'Ohana, Chef Mickey's and Park Fare are just as loud, if not louder, than WCC.

If you've got a noise-sensitive child, I'd really rethink WCC. It's spectacularly noisy. :scared1: Servers banging on trays, hooting and hollering at the top of their lungs, the dinner bell gets rung, there are stick-pony races....and there's really no escaping it. It's a tad quieter in the back area of the restaurant, but there's no guarantee you'll be seated there.

That actaully makes me feel better. We did Ohana and CM our last trip and the boys did fine... although both times we were seated back and away from the majority of the commotion. I wonder if we can request that overall??

Our meal there in September was the worst we have ever had on Disney property. Service was terrible and the skillet meats were gristly and fatty.
The corn and potatoes were cold. We did like the shakes, though.
It was something to experience once, but we will never go back. I would recommend anything besides this.

I've planned much of the same dining as you with my "sensory" kids. We're staying at WL, so if we don't eat at WCC, I'll hear about it all trip. Going there our first night before we hit any of the parks, we won't be tired yet. Your schedule sounds very busy.

We're going the week before Christmas, so the crowds will be pretty big.

I'll let you know how we do. :thumbsup2

We're hitting Chef Mickey's on Christmas day. That should be an adventure! :confused3

1) Ask to sit behind the fireplace.
2) It is an out-of-the-way place, and quiet.
3) If you want more interaction, you can ask for it.
4) Then determine the limit for the kids.

Very great advice. We do find that this restaurant is loud but we could still talk among ourselves... we could not at CM's and O'hanas. When I travel with a friend of mine who has a child with autism, she just tells them she needs to be on the outter edge of the restaurant due to medical issues and they never question her. She also positions the child with their back to the crowded section.

We were there at Thanksgiving, and although we had a different menu, the food was very good and service was great as well.
