Second thoughts on CR?

I loved the CR last time we stayed there, which was just 3 1/2 weeks ago. I already made a ressie for next Feb 3-9 2009 at the CR Tower Bay Lake View (no MK view available). However, so many people keep posting how much they love the Poly. Now I'm having second thoughts. I have never been in the Poly so I can't really compare the two.

What are your thoughts?

I would say to keep your reservation at the Contemporary and here is why. Unless you plan to stay Club Level which means you would be in Hawaii, you won't know which Longhouse you would have until check-in and even if you request one close to the Great Ceremonial House it might not happen since it's only a request. At least by having the Bay Lake view you already know that your staying in the Tower, the only thing you won't know until check-in is the floor you would stay on.

We have stayed at both and CR holds a piece of our heart. All our beginnings with WDW back in the late 70 and 80's were at the CR. We have stayed at the Poly quite a few times with AP and CM discounts and prefer this resort over the CR. We like the beach view of the resorts and MK better. We like the grounds for strolling better and the pool too. We always used the different ways to getting to the MK too, motor launch, monorail and ferry and the walk to the TTC to get the EPCOT monorail beats the sort of convenient walk to and fro from the MK to CR not really that short on a hot day. Price wise, poly is higher but just seems more cozier. The view out the CR tower inside door is not to our liking, just straight down and its the elevator to everywhere where as the Poly are 3 floors and well landscaped grounds. We do not stay at the Poly anymore, don't like the price and discounts hard to come by but if we had a free choice, it would be the Poly. Also, if staying at the CR, MK is the 4th stop going and 1st leaving where as the Poly is 2nd going and 2 or 3rd leaving MK.

dont have second thoughts. if you want to try something new, then by all means go to the poly. you already know you will love the cr. so you are in a no lose situation. we love the poly, but i have never stayed at cr. i would like to someday, but right now i love the poly too much to give it up.

We have never stayed at the CR before but we will in Oct. My kids really wanted to stay there. We stayed at the Poly in 2005 during our Land & Sea cruise and we were not overly impressed. We had a great location, compared to my SIL who was in a longhouse soooooo far away from the main building. The scenery was very pretty but the rooms were really dark. Not cheery at all. I wouldn't say I hated it but I would not go back. As for the GF.LOVED it. Nice and bright and the CM's were fantastic Would go back in a minute. Almost stayed in Oct but they had no lagoon views and the kids wanted to try the CR

Don't second guess yourself. You are doing the right thing. The Poly is my absolute fav resort to visit, NOT stay at. I love the grounds at night and the whole feel of the place. The pool area is just too crowded for me and for me, the cost doesn't fit the resort. I know, I know, to each his own. That being said, I wouldn't talk anyone out of staying there. On the other hand, each time I have stayed at CR I have loved it!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! As soon as I can make ADR'S, I will make one for Ohana's and just visit there.

I do know I love the CR, and so does my DH and DD. We want to tour the resorts anyway so that will be part of the fun.

That sounds like a very good decision.

DON'T CHANGE!! I stayed at The Poly after months of planning in November and we were disappointed! After riding the monorail and going through the CR my kids were hooked and enamored! We walked around and everything I thought when I was planning was wrong! I thought my kids would like the volcano pool more then the CR's since it was plain with just a slide..wrong! I thought they would like the Hawaiian theme at The Poly..wrong! (We travel to the caribbean a lot..so they really didn't care) The rooms were dark..and mine smelled of smoke from previous guests..the carpet in the room were washed and stayed wet/damp for our stay..gross! The elevators in the long houses are so small they can fit 3 thin people..considering I am a family of 5 it really didn't work!..and the halls were so dark and dingy.

I am returning with my kids and booked The CR in a MK view and I am so excited..the rooms are new, bright and vibrant...I love the proximity to the MK and the easy boat access to WL and FW for ADR's. If you love the CR don't look back..Go to The Poly before you stay there to check it out before you spend the money on it....Try O'hana's it was good... we ate there for breakfast and dinner and enjoyed it both times..Have a great trip!
