Second guessing our cake flavor choices...

HI! We just got back today from our PS trip and we had a nice session. We didn't get to taste all the mousse flavors that others have tried and it was difficult to choose based on what we were given. My fiance is not a chocolate person, so any of those were out for at least one layer, but he LOVED the raspberry, so we are doing 2 layers of almond and raspberry (any opinions on that?) I didn't really like it, but it was ok, everyone else liked it, so I'll live.

For the other layer, I definitely wanted chocolate cake, and I liked the amaretto, baileys, and milk chocolate mousses, but he didn't like any of those, so I remembered someone on here mentioning peanut butter (which we didn't get to taste) so I randomly chose that to go with the chocolate cake. I never even tasted it and now I'm worried. Have any of you had a chocolate/peanut butter combo? Is it good? Should I switch to one of the other ones I liked since he got his way on the other layers? ;) Thanks for any help!!!

I can't imagine chocolate and peanut butter being bad! I say... go for it!
...and why didn't you get to try all the flavors?!

That does sound yummy! Did your EM mention to you that you can do peanut butter cup? A mixture of peanut butter and chocolate mousse, that could be good on chocolate cake. I know what you mean... I'm a chocolate person too and my DF is definitely not! I got my way and picked out almond cake w/ chocolate mousse for our middle layer!

They gave us 12 mousse flavors, but many of the ones mentioned on here before were not there, and there were 2 that were kind of silly options and didn't even taste like anything. The peanut butter cup thing sounds good. I'll have to think about this a little more. I'm such a second guesser! :rotfl:

i think the pb cup sounds good and is a diffrent combo.
the almond sounds good but is that ras a mouse? if it is i think it is agreat choice

would you mind naming the flavors you trie. i thought the ones named on here were the only ones. are there more options
i really wanted pistatio or lemon ummm

Yes, the raspberry is a mousse. It was the ONLY one my fiance liked and he ate the entire tub of it (I'm not kidding!!) So we had to pick it :)

Let me see if I can remember what we tried. There were actually only 8 (I have no idea why I thought it was 12!)
Milk Chocolate
Amaretto
Baileys
White Chocolate
Raspberry
Butter Cream
Tropical
Bavarian Cream

There wasn't lemon or pistacio.

i really cant help u much, but just wanted to say i cant wait to hear all about it:banana:  i was thinking of u all weekend, wondering how u were making outpopcorn:: i can't believe i will be there in 18days:banana:

I did not get to go to my planning session. But I did pick chocolate cake with pb mousse...just sounds good! I know there is a thread that talked about it...but I can not find it. I will keep looking

thank you well then from tose choices and your df reaction to rasberyy i think you made a great choice :)

Do they give you a choice as to which cake flavors and fillings you want to taste at your PS? We just filled out our menu tasting form last night for the foods we want to sample, but there wasn't any room for cake flavors.

that's cool that they do it like that (which is how they showed it on the food network special). over here at DL, we had to give them 3 combos that we wanted to try. I'm the big cake afficionado here, DH could care less (doesn't really like cake!).

I think that peanut butter and chocolate totally sounds like a winner! :thumbsup2 :yay:

Of course, I am always pushing for vanilla cake, white chocolate mousse (I don't believe in white chocolate, but this was GOOD), and passionfruit... :goodvibes LOL that doesn't even sound like it was one of your choices!

best of luck! sounds yummy...!! :)

No, they just bring out some options (8 mousse flavors and 4 cake flavors.) When she brought it out she mentioned there were more flavors that she didn't bring out, but were available. I only knew about the peanut butter because of the DIS. Otherwise, we would have had to choose from what we were given.

If you request it, they will send you one. We did both. The food tasting and then the cake tasting. The cake tasting is done during your planning session at Franck's. The food tasting is done wherever your reception is being held.

We had the choc w/ peanut butter, and it was what evvvveryone still talks about a year later. We loved it sooo much we had to get the recipe.

GO FOR IT!!!!

Thanks for the heads up! I emailed to request it. I definitely don't want to miss out on tasting cake! Thats is what I've looking forward to the most. :rotfl:

We really looked forward to it too ;) However, you have to do other things while you're tasting which makes it difficult to make a decision. I was a little disappointed about that. I kept getting asked questions all while I was trying to taste and didn't get to taste more than like 4 mousse flavors and 2 of the cake flavors, so I had to rely on my family and fiance to make the decision for me!

I just wanted to say your DF has excellent taste - we did raspberry mousse (and marble cake) and it was to die for! ::yes:: It was even delicious on our first anniversary after sitting in our freezer for a year!

I just picked out cake flavors. The cake is coming from Publix, not disney. But just had to share. Hope no one minds.

bottom layer is- choco combo with rasberry filling
next layer is- creme with lemon filling

grooms cake is- Mickey's Malt shoppe with choco cake and peanute butter filling.

yummy i want some now. :rotfl:
