Second DVC Member ID = Second Points Transfer?

I'm planning on adding on a small second DVC contract through the secondary market. Different home resort and different use year. I know most people want to have a single DVC Member ID so that things are easy to manage but I want the exact opposite. I want to have 2 completely separate DVC contracts and DVC member IDs so that I will be allowed 2 DVC point transfers in or out. One for each of my calendar years.

What do I need to do to make this happen? Will it happen by default since these contracts are diff hr + diff uy? Do I need to adjust the naming convention on the deed docs to make sure they don't match exactly?

As far as I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong) you can't link your 2 contracts to the same DVC login account if you want to be able to do 2 points transfers because you only get 1 transfer per DVC member. Is this correct?

Thanks!

Have you looked into renting your points instead of buying and selling? Not sure I follow your end game here.

It just gives me more opportunities to get rid of or add points in years in which I won’t be going to Disney or going to Disney a lot.

While transferring points is allowed, IMO Disney doesn't want you to do it. The rules state that you can not transfer for money. The system won't show the transferred points and you have to call MS to transfer you can't transfer online. Plus MS has a history of having issues when transferring, they caused us to lose a reservation while they worked on a transfer for us. We will never transfer again.

Good points. Although renting multiple reservations throughout the year from people seems like it can involve a lot more trust than a large bulk transfer. Although this may be preferable if MS has a history of messing things up. I didn’t know that.

Still I’m interested in knowing the answers so that I can make a decision that suits our needs the best.

Thanks!

Also keep in mind that transferred points retain their home resort priority and UY, you can't transfer banked or borrowed points but you can bank them after the transfer.

It only matters that the UY is different. With a different UY, you'll be assigned a new membership. It doesn't matter the resort or naming convention.

The reason most people suggest the same UY, as Bill is repeatedly pointing out above, is that most on these boards will consider DVC as a "use-first" product. Framing it that way, there can be functional uses for multiple UY, like separate vacations, for example. But to plan around multiple UY the purposes of transferring for your own use would be a terrible one for many reasons (again, as outlined by pps).

If you're looking to buy more points as an investment vehicle (to sell your points on transfers regularly), even those on these boards who have done this successfully would question this strategy in the current market climate when resale prices are at historic highs.

A different UY will mean a different membership. The names can be identical to what you already have on your current contract - that won't matter.

And it would likely be set up automatically for your current login to access the new membership. If not there is a feature on the website to add a new membership number and link it yourself.

You can have all of your different UY contracts under one DVC login as long as the names on each deed are the same. If named the same, it should happen automatically. If done this way, each contract will have a separate member number within your main DVC login profile. You will then be able to conduct one transfer in or out per UY per membership number. So, if you have two contracts in your profile, each with a different member number (which sounds like what you want to do), then you'll be able to conduct one transfer in or out for each of those numbers/contracts per UY. We've done this multiple times without issue and I find it highly useful.

There is no requirement to have the names the same to have the same login access.
