There have been rumors/whispers that they were interested in developing a second "private" destination for a while now. The new ships on the horizon only give more legitimacy to them. Given that Castaway is my absolute favorite place to get off a cruise ship, I sure hope it comes to fruition.

Don't count on it. Disney will want people to go on another cruise instead of going to both islands on one cruise. If it does the cost will be sky high.

Yep, the article in the OP discusses their try for a 2nd Island last year but was the deal fell through. They are still looking!!

Wow, very exciting news. I think CC is such a wonderfully developed stop and we never miss a chance to get off the ship and explore. Another island would be great, but hope they theme is differently. I do like the sound of the double-dip with both island involved. Imagine the money they could rake in from drinks and purchases on the islands, and excursions and gear rentals.

Or a sunken Flying Dutchman snorkeling experience! And pirate night on the island, where you have to "walk the plank" back to the ship for the firework show.

MSC Cruises is developing their own island in the Bahamas, where ships will stay as late as midnight. There will be restaurants/bars and a theater, all the things you enjoy on the ship during the evenings. It would be awesome if Disney could do something similar.
