Sebastian's Make A Wish Trip to Disney

QUOTE=AmberGreenawalt;28844907]I'm a big believer that prayers have helped us over the past year so here I am asking for them again...this time for Savannah.

Normally really upbeat, I could tell that our Pediatrician was worried. After putting her on that scale all three of us women started to tear up.

Doctor asked me what my results were from Savannah's Cystic Fibrosis test from when I was pregnant.
When I got to this part I literally started to freak out and had to shut off the computer for a while. However, I did come back on and finish reading....

Savannah's main Doctor doesn't work again until Wednesday but she gave Savannah's chart to another Doctor in the practice and is having me bring her in on Monday morning to get her weighed again.

This is a big stress right now as we have Sebastian's send-off party tomorrow morning and Savannah's Baptism on Sunday so please pray for our little peanut that she will gain some weight this weekend and we can figure out what is going on with her and get her healthy!

Much Love, Amber[/QUOTE]
Many prayers that Savannah improves and regains her weight this weekend. Please keep us updated when you get a chance. On top of all of this, you have a party and a baptism???? Oh my :goodvibes

Still praying for you guys...

I had the opportunity to spend some time making something for you guys...and I want you to know that I prayed for you guys as I made them...

I know you are totally busy...but we are praying!

Lots of hugs and prayers for baby Savannah! And Sebastian, and Siennah, and YOU and your DH. :grouphug:

Savannah has been admitted to Hemby Children’s hospital in Uptown Charlotte.

Brian and I took Savannah back to the doctor this morning for her follow-up visit. If you will recall she needed to have gained weight over the weekend. We all thought that surely she had. Since being on the Prevacid it seemed like she was keeping more milk down.

To our dismay she has lost another six ounces, weighing in at 9lbs 5 ounces. This morning her Pediatrician said that her weight has gotten dangerously low.

Her ear infection has also not cleared up after 7 days on Omincef her doctor said that normally they would give her shots of Rocephine to knock out the ear infection but she said Savannah doesn't have enough muscle left to inject into.

This morning Savannah also started having streaks of blood in her poop. We brought her diaper in with us to the doctor and then she had another blood streaked diaper here at the hospital.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that Savannah’s stool was tested two weeks ago for a milk allergy and it came back negative.

This morning her Pediatrician told us that Savannah was going to have to be hospitalized indefinitely. She left the room and came back and told us that Dr. Patwarden would be expecting us at Hemby.

It felt like my stomach turned into a ball of knots. Is this really happening two weeks before Disney?!?

Savannah has definitely gotten smaller. She is back to fitting in her new born size clothes again but we really didn't think she was headed for the hospital.

Brian asked if we were looking at hours or days and Savannah's doctor said definitely days. She said that another doctor would come see her at Hemb tomorrow and that she would come see her on Wednesday.

We asked to go home and pack first. My friend Ashley who is visiting us helped me get everything together quickly. I had a lot of toiletries and such already packed for Disney so I scooped all this stuff up in a hurry. God must have known I would need it and that is why I already had it ready.

I fed Savannah and then we left. Sebastian stayed with Ashley and Rey and her boys and Siennah went with my mother-in-law. Since I'm "Room Mom" in Sebastian and Siennah's classes we had to drop off stuff the preschool Thanksgiving Feast tomorrow (even thoughour kids would now be missing it :() and then went to the Hospital.

When we checked in it was weird to be recognized. One of the nurses told me it was strange to see me not pregnant. We were put into a really small room across from the one we were in that first day at the hospital for Sebastian.

We met our day Nurse, Brenda and the Nurse Practitioner. We answered a litany of questions and Savannah had her vitals taken.

The Nurse Practitioner took a look at Savannah's diaper rash and let us know that she had a yeast infection from all the antibiotics. Since the day has gone on she has also started to break out on her chin. She's been given a cream that we are to apply four times a day.

Nurse Brenda came and got us and told us that the treatment room was ready for getting Savannah’s blood. It was the same room that Sebastian's blood was first taken. Nurse Brenda tied off each of Savannah’s limbs in turn to see where she would be ale to get a vein to start an IV. Nurse Brenda wasn't able to get one in Savannah’s feet so she used her arm. She marked the vein with a pen. She took the vials of blood and then set up the IV and and arm splint. Savannah screamed throughout the whole ordeal.

Next she did a nasal suction so that they can test her mucus.

Nurse Brenda asked when Savannah last ate and told me not to nurse her for the next four hours because she was going to have a Barium Study.

A little later we were taken down to the Radiology department for chest X-rays. The first set did not come out so she had to have a second set with her gown off.

Savannah has been given Rocephine and Zantac via her IV.

At 3:15 we were taken back down to the Radiology department and Savannah had a Barium study of her upper GI tract. We met Dr. Quinlin who did the test. Savannah had to drink from a bottle filled with a chalky liquid that would show up on the screen.

Dr. Quilin said that anatomically Savannah was "put together well." He saw some reflux during the test but nothing major. The test itself lasted less then five minutes. I told him that Savannah doesn't always spit up right away. She will often vomit an hour after feeding. He said that the test was to show that everything flowed correctly but I thought it was pointless for "reflux."

I am beside myself right now. The whirlwind of tests and activity is such deja vu! It has been a tiring and emotional day. Sometimes I really don't know how much more I can handle.

Dr. "Pat" came in and talked to us and examined Savannah. She said that the chest X-ray showed some air trapping and Broncialitis-- same as previously diagnosed by Savannah's Pediatrician, but no Pneumonia. The Barium study was "unremarkable." I told her about Savannah not "refluxing" right away and she said that the Barium study was not the best test for Reflux. She said that the "gold standard" was some PH test that is done on adults and only on children in extreme cases. The mucus culture came back negative for RSV.

I requested that a lactation consultant evaluate Savannah's nursing and Dr. Pat said she would write up orders for one to come in the morning.

The name of the game folks is WEIGHT GAIN!!! So say your prayers for a chubby Savannah!

We are getting ready to be moved to a bigger room. Between the Bed and the crib, the chair and IV pole this one is really cramped. I'm glad we'll be in a bigger room for the stay.

I talked to Sebastian's Wish Granters to let them know what's going on. I am hoping and praying we'll have this all sorted before Sebastian's trip. We got some crayon roll-ups from Mommyof2Princess from the Big Give. I want to say THANK YOU. I want to post some pictures when things settle down.

Sebastian's Oncologist just stopped by and brightened the mood. He saw "Greenawalt" on the patient list and wondered what the heck we were doing here. I sarcastically told him, "We just love us a mystery!"

My thoughts are with you guys. I hope they find the cause. I see you are nursing. Have you tried an elimination diet? If not, I'd highly recommend to see if you can find the culprit. Allergies don't always show up on the tests. *hugs*

Amber, I am so sorry for what you are going through. I can only imagine all the emotions you are having. We will certainly keep all of you in our prayers. Keep us updated when you can.
