Has anyone been to Disney's Spirit of Aloha Luau? I'm wondering how it compares to the luau discussed on this board???

Has anyone been to both? Which is better?

I'd also like to know where the luau is held...I've never seen it advertised...just saw the posting about it on this board and it looks interesting...

Thanks

Hi, I can speak for myself and our family....I have been to WDW Luau.....and Seaworld just HAS to be better (even thought I have not done that one) LOL
In all honesty, the Disney Luau is lame and boring. :sad2: The food wan't that great either. We were all ready do leave about 15 min. into the show. I would put my $$ on SeaWorld. :thumbsup2 You have not missed anything at DISNEYS LUAU.::flower3:

Never done the Disney luau, but I have done the Sea World one several times and loved it! From my post on another forum, here's my take on it:

Makahiki Luau: I've done the Luau several times over the years. Last time was for my 18th birthday (which was.. uh... quite a while ago). The food was absolutely MAGNIFICENT. And the entertainment was high quality, too... not campy or kitschy like other Orlando dinner show experiences. My childhood neighbors (who were native Hawaiians) actually worked there, two of them as dancers and their father was the head of food service for all the southeastern A-B parks for quite a long time, so I'm figuring it was fairly authentic too. I highly, highly recommend this! I'm hoping to hit it again this year, as it's been far too long.

=)

My family and I have been to both luaus and we definitely prefer the one at Sea World. The dinner and the show were better than Disney IMO.

The luau is held at the Seafire Inn. Check the brochure when you get there. I'm not sure if they are still offering a discount but, we had made advance reservations but noticed there was a coupon in the SW brochure. I took the coupon to customer relations and they applied the credit back to my cc.

Thanks! I think we'll definitely skip the Disney Luau...I appreciate your input!

We haven't done either of them but would like to pick one for our next trip. I was originally plaaning the Spirit of Aloha because we were considering the DDP but I think we might see how it goes without the dining plan. That means it would cost about the same to do either one. The Sea World one is just a little more expensive, so if anyone has more info I would appreciate it.:confused3 From the website, I saw that park admission is not required. Is this place in the park and, if so, would we have time to see anything with the luau admission? Thanks for any advice.

Actually the SW luau is cheaper. Disney's Spirit of Aloha (Category 3) is $50.99 per adult (this is the least expensive ticket).

Sea World's Makahiki Luau is $46.00 per adult. There is a $6 off coupon at orlandocoupons.com so that brings it down to $40.00 per person.

I believe there is also an $8 discount if you mention the Orlando Magicard. The code did not work online but I was told it would work if you made your luau reservation over the phone.

Do you need a ticket to get into SW & then the Luau ticket?

Or can you just go for the Luau?

You do not need a ticket to get into Sea World in order to attend the luau.

I called to make a reservation for the luau and I got a confirmation number - no ticket. I was told to give the confirmation number to get into the park and into the luau.

From what I have read, you can get into Sea World at least one hour before the luau (one person posted that were admitted two hours before the luau) and if the park is still open when the luau ends, you get to stay in the park. :thumbsup2
