We are planning a 9 day trip for our 40th anniversary with our kids and grandkids next year.(10 of us total). We are DVC members and will be staying for a week at Disney. We are planning to do Seaworld, a first for the grandkids (ages then 1,4,5 and 7) We are thinking of staying at a hotel near Seaworld for 2 nights. Suggestions please. It would be nice to be within walking distance. TIA

We have stayed at the Sea World Springhill Suites, Residence Inn and Cypress Harbour. I would recommend all three as each property is very different. We often stay at SWSS when Disney is not offering discounts. RI and SS definitely have Quick Que (think all day free fast pass) but you have to sign up the night before.

We have stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation and walked to SW without a problem. I got a 1BR but it had a pull out sleeper in the living room and then a nice kitchen, etc. If you like the DVC options you might like this.

You can also get 2BR as well, but they are not always available.

The pool there is really nice and we loved the property and the staff was extremely friendly. They did have a shuttle to the park as well if you don't want to walk.

We really enjoyed the Residence Inn SeaWorld. Spacious rooms with a fully separate bedroom (or two), full kitchens in each suite, a free daily hot breakfast buffet, free Quick Queue, free internet and parking, free shuttles to the SW parks, and very friendly staff. Flat screen TV's are in all guest rooms. The pool and hot tub are both quite large, there's a great sport court, and there is a lovely courtyard with grills for guest use. The whole place just had a very homey and comfortable feel.

More pics of the room and property can be found in my trip report from Christmas 2012 (see link in my signature).

I highly recommend the HGVC for a Seaworld-centered vacation. The proximity and perks can't be beat. Check out some of their specials right now-makes me wish I could go for a quick trip!
Have fun!!

I stayed at the Renaissance SeaWorld Hotel (a Marriott property) for a business trip and it was a pit. It was walking distance to Seaworld, across the parking lot if I recall correctly, but that convenience isn't worth staying at this property.

oh that makes me so sad - before Marriott it was a 4 star hotel - with alot of fun stuff - especially buffet on Sunday - it was an excellent hotel.

it was a business hotel - so to fill it up on holidays and weekends - they have specials - really great specials.

oh well things change.

I just realized that I should have mentioned that I was there in early January 2012.

That is terrible news. I considered that hotel one of my favorite offsite locations. I stayed there in 2009 and it was not a pit then. I wonder what happened.

I am looking at the reviews on Trip Advisor and they seem mostly positive. The overall rating is 4.5 out of 5 which is a terrific rating. What made this place a pit?

I love the renaissance hotel and have stayed there twice this year. The walk to sea world is so worth it. It has a really amazing pool area for kids. Free parking for hybrid cars.

Rooms were run down and not cleaned very well (visible dirt in the corners, bathrooms weren't consistently cleaned.)I was there with several other people in my party (all in seperate rooms) and our experiences were similar.

Certainly not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in but nothing I'd consider spending a week at with my family.

I really wish that you would expound a bit more. We've stayed there twice and are going back for the 3rd time in June. The place is the BOMB!!

The pool, the water park, the rooms, the distance to SW and A, full fledged Starbucks.......what exactly is it that you didn't like? :confused3

Check my last post on page 1 of this thread.

The property just underwent a massive rehab. It was closed for a year, while Marriott took it over from Stouffer.

The place is brand spankin new....oh well, to each their own.

Just double-checked my expense report to make certain I was talking about the correct property...confirmed.

The place was fine for business travel but no where I'd spend my money for me and my family to enjoy. There was a very obvious cleanliness issue with the guest rooms/bathrooms. As mentioned, this was the experience for everyone in my party staying in seperate rooms.

We stayed at the Renaissance Sea World this past Christmas. We loved the pool, the kids water area, Free Quick Queue, walking to Sea World, and the staff. We didn't like paying for parking, but that was the only bad thing. The lobby has a Starbucks and a tiny frozen yogurt stand that we used daily.

We have always stayed (xmas) at POFQ. I just asked my 7 year old son and we both agree that we like the Renaissance Sea World better.
