Has anyone had any experience with Seaworld's day camps for children? I've signed my kids (DD10 and DS13) up for a week in June. One is doing what is called the 'Wild Careers' camp and the other is doing the 'Walk on the Wild Side' based by age. The camp hours are 9-3 so not the overnight one (just to pricey for me). I'd love to get some feedback before we go. It sounds great. :goodvibes

My parents have a house nearby so we've got a free place to stay and I'm hoping this will be a great experience for them and something very different from our local camps here in Charleston. Please post if you have any info.

Thanks in advance!!

My DD did the Wild Careers last summer and her friend did Walk on the WIld SIde. Both had a fantastic time and loved every minute of it. The check in and check out procedures are easy and efficient. My DD still is in contact with friends she made at camp. One of her favorite activities was making an enrichment toy for the polar bears and then getting to see the polar bears play with them. Make sure you get a poncho for them(they sell them there) as it did rain. They saw areas of the park and rode some of the rides. Your kids will love it.

My kids went the last two summers. They had a great time and would love to go again, but we just can' swing it this year. Looks like they cut the hours - last year it was 9-5.

They also go over to Busch one day, and the group was split into riders and non-riders. The non-riders basically did more of the animal interations while the riders rode the coasters.

My kids are picky eaters so they took their lunch each day and while they didn't refrigerate it they did bring to the lunch area for them and then stored it until time for pickup. So no schleping around their coolers each day.

At check in they got a water bottle with a carrying strap to keep them hydrated throughout the day. My kids carried Crystal Light singles with them to flavor the water.

I wonder whether they have those camps for adults too? I so would love to take part!!

bairdbeth and Janet Hill,

Thanks so much for posting! :flower3: It is very reassuring to hear from someone with first hand knowledge. I'm so glad to hear that they all enjoyed it. It helps set my mind at ease.

Dolphina - here is a link to the camp site - http://seaworld.org/adventure-camps/swf/day/index.htm The camps my kids are going to only go through 8th grade, but maybe you can find something else on the site.

My sons have done both the Animal Kingdom camps and Seaworld camps and while they loved both the only complaint is that the Disney camp(which is only open to family or friends of employees) seems to keep the kids cooler while the Seaworld camp has the kids outside longer in the heat and while its fun summer is really hot for the kids to be out for 6 or 7 hours with no pool..........

I actually work with the Sea World adventure camps, and it's so great to hear that you are excited about it for this summer!

I'll let the other members here speak to their impressions of the camps - but if you have any specific questions always feel free to ask me :)

Btw - The "Barefoot Mommies" blog has a pretty comprehensive write-up of the different types of Adventure Camps that is a must-read if you are planning on going: http://www.barefootmommies.com/2009/05/busch-gardens-aventure-camps-giveaway.html
