Seattle Airfare?

We've always been able to get airfare under $250 to MCO from SEA. Right now the cheapest I can find is $324 (including taxes) on Frontier in August. Frontier happens to have the right times too. Should I just accept that that is the cheapest rate I'm going to find?? I'm really surprised prices are so high. I keep seeing Travelocity advertise $260 but so far that is just through May/June.

Should I book or wait?

Just a couple of days ago I was able to book a one way PDX-MCO for August @ $99 (total w/tax $112). I can't book the return until they open up dates past 8/24. I am hoping for a similar fare. Then I will watch for lower fares w/DING as it gets closer to our travel dates in August.

I did this too back in Feb. I was able to get us tickets on Delta one way from PDX to MCO for 97$, now I'm just waiting on a good return flight, right now it's running about $165 for the trip home , but I'm holding out for Southwest to open their dates or Delta to drop theirs.

I hear where you are coming from. I was spoiled by those $200+ airfares plus the nonstop on Alaska. We are going later, end of Sept and the flight I am coveting is about $400. I have more time and am going to wait. I have been looking at the seating chart in the airline website to see how full the flight looks also and so far so good. I waited too long to use my frequent flyer miles...

I've been waiting for years for Alaska to do a nonstop from PDX -- now they finally are and the flight times just stink for families...a red eye on the way there and an early, early AM on the flight back! I'll just stick w/SW for now. Besides, they have an early morning flight that just touches down in Kansas City to pick up more passengers, so it's only about a 20 minute stop. For us, that's as good as it gets.

It is always a game flying from Seattle. I split my trip between Alaska and Jet Blue for end of March - April to Orlando and paid about $240 each. I am making a last minute trip in two weeks and just booked $170 w/taxes to Jacksonville. Sometimes it pays to wait until a little bit closer. Good Luck.

I'm booked on the Alaska nonstop this September.
I know what you mean about the times though.
Too bad it isn't Seattle's schedule.
Can't complain about the price, however. Only a little over $200 roundtrip and I upgraded with miles to first class. Should take some of the pain out of the times!

I got a red eye flight on the way there but I wanted it. Delta had other early morning flights but then we waist a day in the sky insted of Disney. I thought with a 5 year old that my son would do better during the night so he will just sleep the 7 to 8 hour flight.

Our problem with the red-eye is that it puts you in MCO very early in the morning. The time you can actually sleep (if you can sleep!) is only about 6 hrs. We arrive dead-tired and can't actually get into our room until 4pm or so. Makes for a pretty miserable day! You might want to plan on finding a nice quiet bench somewhere in the parks (or at your resort) where your little one can take a quick nap so he can recharge.

We are flying out of Portland in September because of the great price I got with Alaska's new nonstop. I am paying 218.00 p/p roundtrip. My advice would be to keep watching all the airfare sites because you can usually find something for $300 or under. It is definitely a game.

I am a red-eye fan also, my kids usually sleep quite well on the plane and I have a system for getting rest also. We sometimes hang by the pool at the resort or we do the parks and go to bed early the first day.

That was my whole point -- sometimes it's hard to find somewhere for R&R when you can't get into your room for several hours. I'm sure it will work out fine for your family. It didn't work for ours because I absolutely cannot sleep on planes so truth be told, I'm the one that's the zombie all day and when mama isn't happy...ain't noboby happy!
