Hi everyone,
We decided last minute to take a 5 day trip to DL mid march over our spring break and we are SO excited! This time we are not taking Grandma with us, so I need a little advice. We have a soon to be 8 yr old and a 5 yr old, plus a 2 yr old. Obviously the little guy wont be going on the thrill rides. My question is, when we do child swap, which rides can we fit three in a seat and which one will one child need to wait? Specifically I wonder about Matterhorn, BTMRR, Splash, Space, Mullholland Madness.

What about a couple of the ones he can ride on.. the Gadget Go Coaster, Toy story mania... can we fit three of us in one seat... an adult and two thin kids? Thanks!

TSMM can fit 3 but there are only 2 shooters so the person in the middle can't play. DS isn't tall enough (or brave enough) for the "big" rides yet so I don't know how many people they hold in each seat.

Matterhorn seats two on a seat - one in front, one in back

BTMRR seats two side by side. A small child can sit between adults. I suppose an adult and two small kids will be fine, too.

Splash is kind of like Matterhorn - front and back. There are single seats up front and double seats that can fit three in the back.

Mulholland Madness seats two side by side - no room for a third.

Gadgets GoCoaster cannot fit a adult and two kids, Toy Story Mania, Cartoon Spin, Astro Blasters all can.

Matterhorn-max 2 people per seat. One sits in front of the other, basically in your lap.Only 2 seatbelts.

BTMRR-Yes you can fit 3 in one seat. Works nicely since it can keep you from sliding around (with only one or two you slide a lot)

Splash-can accomodate many different configurations.

Space-two across, no lap seating.

Mullholland Madness-2 across, no lap seating.

What about a couple of the ones he can ride on.. the Gadget Go Coaster, Toy story mania... can we fit three of us in one seat... an adult and two thin kids?

As PP posted, you can sit 3 in TSM, only 2 guns. though.

Go Coaster, two across, no lap seating.

Thanks!

FYI, the 8 yr old. can ride alone. Min. age is 7 to ride alone. As long as you and your child are okay with it. He/She will be seated either right in front or back of you.

Basically, when you get the baby switch you should be able to have 3 ride first (one A and 2 kids 8 and 5) even if 8 year old sits in own seat. Then the other adult and one child can ride with the baby switch.

HTHs. :goodvibes

I was looking for these kinds of answers recently too! :)

Except that we have TWO that can't ride the thrill rides. Is your 2 y.o. really tall enough for Matterhorn and Gadget's Go Coaster? I must have a shorty. :)

We went when our DD had just turned 2 the month prior to our trip. She was BARELY tall enough to go on Matterhorn and Gadget's Go Coaster. She has always been right about in the 50th-75th percentile. :goodvibes

Yep he is tall enough, but I have tall kids!!!

Two more to throw out there... what about Autotopia and astro Oribters... can you do three or only two. If we can only do two on the cars, we might have to steer the kids away from it, because with only two adults and no kids tall enough to drive alone, it would take THREE times through for all three kids to get to ride!

I wish I knew the answers to this question. I think on Autopia you can only ride 2 - and the line is HORRENDOUS! On Astro Orbiters I think you can ride 3 (1 adult and 2 small kids) - but I can't remember for sure since I hate the ride and avoid it like the plague! ;)

There should be a child swap pass for rides that you can't take your child on. We have used them before and love them. :lovestruc At the entrance to Space (or any other ride with a height limit) ask the CM for a child swap pass. Every time we've done it they need to see our kids to see that we need one. They give you the pass and one of the grown-ups waits (or rides) with the littles that can't ride while the other adult goes with the people that can ride. They come out and the adult that waited uses the child swap pass in the FP line (or exit if there is no FP) and can ride the ride. You can have 2 people with the child swap pass, so if your 5 yr old is tall enough they can go one time and then the 8 yr. old can go the other time. We combine FP with Child Swap all the time and it makes the lines so much easier with little kids. Get a FP for everyone that has a ticket - even if they are not tall enough for the ride. Get a child swap pass - use the FP for 2 of the people who are riding. When they are done - use the child swap pass for the other 2 people and save the 2 remaining FP's for later when you are sure to want to ride again. Repeat with the child swap and you have ridden 2 times each instead of just once.

Also, the picture in a PP of the logs on Splash is NOT how the logs are now. There are seat backs in the logs and you will be separated by them. You can ride 2 people in the very back since it is a little wider. I do this with my DS5 and DH and our DS13 and DS7 ride in front of us. We never come out in the picture since DH and DS13 are taller than me, but we get to ride together.

My DS 7 did Mulholland Madness last year with the single rider line. He loves the ride and is old enough to ride it himself. The CM's asked him every time how old he was, but he was able to ride it. I walked up the stairs with him and waited while they loaded him into the car, then walked down the stairs and watched him ride until he got to the unloading area and then waited at the bottom of the stairs for him to exit. I could see him the whole time and he loved the ride - he never seemed to mind who he was riding with. When I went up the first time with him I crossed over the car and waited in the unloading area and couldn't see him the whole time, which bugged me. So after he was done and knew where to go and that I would be waiting for him, he was fine with me going up the stairs and waiting until he got on and then meeting him at the exit.

DD rode at 2 yr 3 mo (was 36") and may be 40" by her 3rd bday. And my youngest is so tall he may be tall enough to ride Matterhorn at 18 mo!!!! :scared1:

My DD is 10 now and 4'4". She's petite. I've been letting her ride alone (on MM, and TSM when they did single rider) since last year. She was 9 and they would ask her every time how old she was. She would get so annoyed! She wanted me to make her a button to wear that said something like "I'm 9! Don't ask me again." I should have, it would have been funny. Anyway, I totally understand why they ask, but I'm glad she's a little tall now so they don't anymore. And yes when she rides MM alone, I watch her the entire time ( I can hear her screams so I always know which car she is in!:rotfl:) On TSM depending on how the cars rotated around inside, sometimes she would get out before me and other times after me, even if she went in before. She knew where to wait for me so it wasn't a problem. It's no longer an issue since they don't do SR anymore.
